January 2006 Issue of CTT

Looks like it’s going to be a good one! I’m particularly interested in the Building a Better Plasticville Tower article and to a greater degree, the 5x9 layout with realistic scenery. Can’t wait!

Hey CTT, what track system did you go with on that 5x9?

Jim

What kind of tower? I saw the email but did not go farther. Just ordered three tall coaling towers to kitbash for mine. I’ve got three of the building type coaling stations [or towers]. Can hardly wait.

Chief,

Coal is going to be THE industry on your layout, huh? Long coal drags pulled by NS deisels? Can’t wait to see that kitbashed coal structure. Since CTT did an article on detailing a Plasticville coal tower a little over a year ago, I’d guess this article is about Plasticville’s switch tower.

I have a few Plasticville structures, including the coal tower. With a little paint and effort, they look pretty good. I painted my coal tower dark gray to set it apart from all the brown ones out there. The diner, a very basic kit if ever there was one, also looks great when detailed with windows, curtains, paint and some signage.

Jim

I believe the 5x9 is S gauge (everybody remain calm [:O] )

I’m drawing a blank on the tower story. Other than the product stuff, I only edited a story on scenery details and restoring a Standard gauge switch [:O] [:O] which has the up side that there is a lot in the magazine I haven’t read when I get my copy!!

Bob,

I believe the article in question is one that I wrote about detailing a Plasticville Switch Tower. It’s one of the headlines on the preview of the January Cover: Build a better Plasticville tower - page 70. Roger edited it.

Dennis Brennan

I’m looking forward to your article, Dennis. As I said before, with just a little detailing and paint, Plasticville structures really look sharp.

It doesn’t matter what gauge the 5x9 layout is. I’m interested in seeing one get made, and more importantly, how the scenery was created. I was just wondering if FasTrack was going to be used. A FasTrack layout build might not be a bad idea for an article.

Jim

Mine started life like this. I bought this when I was a kid with grasscutting money - probably a buck or so.

ended up like this:

I’m looking forward tot he Standard Gauge coverage, just the ticket to fire me up for getting my SG Christmas layout ready.

Just wish it came out this month instead of next. In time to be of good use for this years Christmas layout. [:o)]

There’s nothing wrong with S guage with this “3” railer Bob. I love S too! [8D] I’m looking forward to seeing the January issue. It gets me ready for the Holidays. [8D]

I would love to see a feature on “3” rail HO Marklin tinplate (or other HO tinplate) should someone happen to write a good enough story worthy to be published. (I ain’t no writer meself!) [:D]

Hey that is my tower when I do the benchwork. [;)]

I’m looking forward to the Standard gauge coverage, too. I need a Standard gauge fix!

Let’s see, standard gauge, S gauge, and O gauge.

So much for CTT being O gauge only!

Sounds like it will be a great issue!

True true, however, I need to change the sign. Do you prefer Broadloom Junctino or Karistan Krossing?

ps: Putting a piece of plywood over your carpet DOES NOT constitute “benchwork”
