January is the Month for Deals on Atlas Track, Structures & Accessories!

just got this Atlas e-news flash-
This January may be the last opportunity for savvy modelers to stock up on Atlas products at 2005 prices. For those building or working on their layouts this winter, January is the time to buy.

In anticipation of price increases in 2006, Atlas has made available to its distributors an opportunity to “beat the price increase” by ordering track, structures, layouts and accessories through January 31, 2006 at 2005 prices.

“While many direct and indirect costs increased significantly in the last few years, Atlas has maintained prices since 2003,” said Joe Kolnoski, vice-president, sales. “Due to explosive growth in the cost of fuel and raw materials, along with substantial increases in transportation, labor, healthcare and other operating expenses during 2005, Atlas must increase prices in 2006, by approximately 10%. So, visiting your hobby shop during January can reap significant savings for those looking to build or expand their layouts.”

The new Atlas Model prices go into effect on February 1, 2006. Atlas has notified more than 1,000 authorized Atlas hobby stores of the coming increase. Over 150,000 Atlas HO and N scale modelers will be informed via an e-mail broadcast encouraging them to visit their favorite Atlas hobby store and stock up before February 1st. Don’t miss out on these significant savings!

I need to get more track SOON- i already think it’s too expensive.

have to buy some more track and other Atlas supplies from the LHS but i think Atlas track is very easonable comapred to brands like Kato Unitrack. Tim

I wasn’t really comparing it to any specific brand. But if you need more then a few turnouts it can quickly add up. I need at least 10 remote snap-switches. plus I need flextrack and straight track.

That’s bad news. As I begin building my layout, I still need 12 right-hand Customline #4’s and 12 left-hand Customline #4’s. That’s going to be a chunk of change. [:(]

I’m not sure what Atlas will be charging for January but 1st place hobbies http://1stplacehobbies.com/ has some pretty good track prices. (code 100 flex for $1.99, remote snap switches $11.29)

I just ordered my flex track from them last night.

Prices are going up Feb. 1st, 2006- Atlas gave dealers a “stock up” oppurtunity so until the delars have to order more track after the 1st prices should stay the same for a while.

well that stinks, i need about 5 remote switches now for my yard, and im not shure how many more i’ll need for the rest of the layout but there’s probably goin to be alot.
good thing i got all of my 100 pieces of flextrack for xmas

yeah the new layout im buyuig next weekend is gonna run me $300 +

This could put the price of Atlas track up with Peco, Shinohara and ME.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

i need almost $200 worth of track to add 4’x8’ to my layout and fini***he yard on the other part of it.

I also need a lot of track.

I hope to get most of my turnouts before the increase . i can afford flextrack and straight track after the increase but i need to get my turnouts soon.

That would be a good idea. It still will be a lot but not as much.

I got 80 sections of Atlas HO code 100 flextrack off ebay of $42. 90% were full 3’ sections the rest were just short of 3’. Best deal yet on both track and ebay.

I usually mail order from Hobbyland in Indiana, they have good prices, $2.10 for flextrack and $7.50 for #4 or #6 Mark IV switches. Shipping is pretty low. I’ve noticed that many other mailorder shops stick it to you with shipping.

The LHS caters to RC planes and cars, not much of a selection for serious MRR’s

I got about 25 pounds of used Atlas track in code 100, maybe I should list it on ebay since price is going up. It includes several turnouts, curved, and straits. I see used and new on ebay for cheap though.
