Good Video Report from the JR Central Mueseum in Nagoya!
Over 50 years, there has been only one derailment and no passenger fatalities. That level of safety is unprecedented.

Most are run by private companies? Could that work here? It looks like we might find out in Texas. Since those who don’t believe in subsidies seem to have no problem with private companies using public infrastructure at less than cost, maybe the government could build the lines and allow private companies to run the trains. Multiple companies could compete on the same line.
That is indeed, remarkable that there were but one derailment and no fatalities on the Shinkansen Line during it’s 50 years of existance
That sure cant be said about the airlines.
I was just in Japan this past May. Their rail system is amazing - and not just the Shinkansens. American railroaders could learn something from them. On time, quiet, comfort - need I say more!!!
WHO IS John GALT? (Atlas Shrugged…)
Our nation lost its way when they didn’t think to build hi-speed (or even “regular” speed) rail lines within the confines and medians of many of the INTERSTATE HIGHWAY system, especially those that were in wide open, relatively flat areas of the USA…just makes one wonder what could have been but isn’t…
Too much tax money wasted on airports for nobody and bridges to nowhere in order to buy votes. That’s why what could have been isn’t.
