BANZAI! Well done boys! See, who doesn’t like steam?

I wonder how many other operating railway companies around the world still have an operating steam locomotive to show off Great to see.

Another steam loco restored, ICHIBAN job!!!

How about an article about this is a future issue?

Omedetou!

I wonder if anyone in Japan has a camera? Maybe they could take a picture and send it to TRAINS Magazine so they can put the picture on the website. No - that is probably too difficult a task for TRAIN to handle.

Wow, they have four operating steam locomotives, and restoring this one only took a year. I agree, this railroad would be a great subject for an article in the magazine.

Good to see they have a C58 preserved and in steam. According to the book I have, “Steam Locomotives of Japan”, by Naotaka Hirota (Kodansha International, 1972) 427 examples of the class were built from 1938 onwards, making it the most numerous after the D51 2-8-2, and in April 1972, 77 were still operating. I saw and photo’d one, C58-271, near Mito in April 1966.
