I made today the get it dcced day, the tenders will wait for a better day.
The Turbine decoder…dead, replacement digitrax 4 amp decoder, bad, wont go forward, installed an NCE decoder, hey it works for now, I’ll be talkin to QSI and digitrax,…
NCE decoder hardwired in it was a mess thrashin of wires earlier.
I finally shot a video of it headlight shinin away, I’ll post it up later, the engine takes a back seat for a while now till issues figgered out, but its a better engine today.
got new 4 amp digitrax decoders yesterday, and took at the 1 amp one in goes the 4 amp, the difference is way obvious.
1 amp decoder I had to juice the throttle up to get any reaction then it was not decently controllable, now with the 4 amp, it crawls. Gave it a slooooow run around the loop just now, ran perfect. It will get numerous running tests. Nice bright headlight. No sound for now, work that out later. so far so good.
worked on the main water tender. Used the ole kadee coupler trick to isolate one truck electrically, had to flop the wheels over on one truck.
I removed the jewel lights, cleaned them up then, angle drilled thru the body top headlight to pass wires thru for the teeny superbright LED. These LED’s are barely the size of a pinhead.
Installed a normal bright LED in the other Headlight.
heres the water tender, the tank on the end is a water treatment tank. now…lights out
always impressed with these little LED’s.
I use a Digitrax TF4 4 function decoder to work the headlights. For some reason this headlight started flashing, now it wont light up after doing this shot, dunno, will have to ask Digitrax, I’ll have to check the LED see if it still works, otherwise I’ll change it use a higher rated resistor.
I set the functions to 3 and 4 for this tender lights, the other tender would be set to 5 and 6, I will light it up too. Not done yet, but this one was the toughee to do. I have to order another TF4.
I picked up a TCS 4 function decoder, swapped out the Digitrax and its working fine now. 2 decoders to send back to Digitrax now.
Very nice work.
BTW: A steady flashing light is usually indicative of some internal error unless you have the lighting FX on (ie: beacon, strobe, mars, ditch)
