Jeffrey´s Trackside Diner - September 2015

Welcome aboard Jeffrey´s Trackside Diner for the month of September 2015!

This is your informal place to meet with friends, share your day, talk on topic and off topic, but always within the rules of the forum policy.

Jeffrey´s Trackside Diner was formerly Elliot´s Trackside Diner, but was renamed to honor our friend Jeffrey “Running Bear” Wimberly, who passed away in December 2014. Jeffrey was an outstanding personality, a gifted and creative model railroader and a true friend.

We miss him very much!

Jeffrey´s Trackside Diner is open to anyone and Cousin Vinnie, the proprietor and the staff - that´s Janie, the twins Chloe and Zoe, Flo and Brunhilda - are always happy to welcome new guest.

So come on in and enjoy the finest food and drinks and good company!

Good morning Ulrich, early riser today I see–will be talking to you shortly, will try to call at the same time. Hope all is well.

If this is the top use the CC and set up drinks for all–

Good Morning!

Thought I´d open up the September Diner, as our G-Man seems to be on the road and not available for this service. I am not sure, but I have a faint memory he mentioned a trip some time ago he and his OH planned on taking at the end of August.

My ear is improving slightly, but still bugging me. Li´l Whistler is still blowing his whistle, and there is still a feeling of pressure in it, but the pain is nearly gone now. Two more days until I can see that specialist about it.

I couldn´t help but fiddling around with that plan once more - always in search of excellence [:P]

The track plan:

… and some 3D views:

… and some detail shots:

… and a shot of the prototype location:

I wish I could change the colors of the scenery and the trees. I´d like to see it in those bright Fall colors!

up831 - I like designing small layouts, but I do have an issue with room-filling behemoths. It´s somewhat a hobby within the hobby for me, especially these days, as I cannot do any “serious” MRRing.

Enjoy the day!

‘bright fall colors’ Ulrich? Don’t start pushing it! 25 more days until my B-day, then i will agree, after the first day of Fall, that there should be “pretty fall colors” other than green!

I have been busy this weekend…1st saturday was a BIG Shindig for special close friends…known as family.

Then SUnday we took in a couple of houses.nothing yet.

yesteraday was sa vet day, a thyroid issue, maybe and NOT a ‘put to sleep’ issue ike moh feared. and a cleanup day as MOh made two-one alcohol nad one non alcohol Black Forrest cakes for the shindig! so there was clean up in isle 16.

so, i was busy,

make it a great day…

[8-|]

Oh, hte train trip is next saturday…from Steamtown to Deleware water gap…

Hello ! JohnBoy out in Montana visiting family. Prayers for all. Flip

Had to look up what a shindig is - never heard of that word before. [%-)]

Good morning diners,

It’s the first of the month!

I was going write a few days ago but I got worried doing it. The past weekend I went on a small 2 day vacation to New Mexico and back doing some railfanning. Unfortunately I didn’t have a camera on me until the return trip, but I missed a pair of UP SD70ACe with NS locomotive pulling a fast intermodal freight.

While watching Union Pacific trains I got energized again about the hobby. Mostly it went downhill; a bit on just focusing on buying freight cars.

Mornin’ everyone!

Zoe, I’ll have a pot of Marrakesh Express Dark Roast Coffee to keep my R&GV RR Mug filled and a couple sour cream Glazed donuts… Oh, The’re gone already? The powdered sugared ones will do nicely then.

Brother Elias, I have been enjoying your photographs. I see the lion checking out the ladies there… Is that allowed?

Galaxy, sounds like you folks had a good weekend. I kinda thought you had mentioned that you would be busy.

Location and host for the NMRA Fall meet fell through for this one, so now I am trying to find a good location and program for it. Have a couple possibilities to look into.

Lots of stuff I need to get done, so I will catch you all later.

Not much going on now. School is starting here in Michigan and everything is crazy.I might order a GM EMD SW-1 and paint it to its origional Pere Marquette colors and running a diesel instead of steam for a change. But other than that not much going on. Did find a couple of websites to help me model the Pere Marquette, and here they are.

Have you not sometimes wondered, what Jeffrey´s Trackside Diner looks like?

Well, here is a recent photograph:

Janie is on duty today, and she took the liberty of naming the place “Jane´s Diner”. Cousin Vinnie is that lackadaisical figure sitting on the right side of the porch - I am the bloke with the coffee mug in his hand, sitting on the bench in front of the porch.

Bedtime is coming up - CU all tomorrow!

Hi Everyone…haven’t been on since last January with the move, the new job and all…just wanted to get a cup of java and a slice of apple pie to go. hope to have some posts together real soon.

I love what cousin Vinnie has done to the place in honor of Running Bear…have a great day everyone…

Howdy …

Ulrich … Thanks for starting September Diner… The photo of the diner is really remarkable. … I like your track plans. Looks like fun just doing the track plans.

Galaxy … Sounds like you had a good time with family, etc. … Your birthday is 25 days… Mine is much sooner.

Angelob6660 … Glad you had a nice trip in NM.

YGW … Hope the appointment went well.

Gopod to see everybody including Herrinchoker, FLip, Lion, Ray, Chris, and Luvadj.

I had my appointment in Nashville, TN yesterday with the cardiologist. Everything is stable for me.

Getting ready for a trip to Michigan soon.

Meanwhile, I am scratch building a rural grain elevator.

Happy Model Railroading

Evening Dinners

Flo [B] Please

I am in a foul mood tonight, I hate stupid customers! At 4 minutes till closing Jeep SUV pull up to the store. Old Fart (well I am a old fart as well, but he was older) came in. He wanted to look at queen sizes mattress for him and is wife, she was not there.

OK, that not a buying sighn but I went at it. Took him to a King Koil Pillow top set for $629.99, he asked me how tall was it. Answer is 22". He said there was 22" and his wife has a hard time getting in and out of it. So I explained I have box springs that will lower it 2" to 5". Asked me “What eles to you have”? Asked him if he like to try it? He said no, what eles do you have?

With out him trying the mattress what do you do? I told him all ready I can lower the mattress up 5" with driffrent box spring, what does he want to do look at 52 driffrent mattress? Guess when he said look at Queen sets he did mean just look at them! [banghead] Plus with out his wife being there to see if she could get in and out of the bed what am I going to do to get the deal?[:-^] Store Grand Father clock started chimming 8:00 PM so he started shuffling to the door and I followed.

Reason I am in a foul mood? [:(!] When I went out to my car I saw his wife sitting in the Jeep SUV! [banghead] Why the heck would he leave her in the car, when she was the one with speical needs?

You Can’t Help Stupid

Ken

Ken, you misunderstood the situation. That WAS NOT his wife in the Jeep SUV, It was his MISTRESS!!!

Today’s quotes:

One for Ray:

The greatest sign of success

Watched rocket go up. Haze slight so didn’t block view.

Back into the 90’s with index 104 or so. T-Storms later. [again]. Garage to hot to run trains.

Prayers for all,

Flip

Good morning everybody.

Flip, it must be amazing to see one of those rockets going up.

We watch it from our home. We’re about 50/60 miles from where it’s launched. The sound from the rocket must be deafening. Bad enough when the T/S boomers go off and the house shakes.
