Ken - According to what I found on the internet, E7’s are about 20 feet longer than an F9 unit. Quite a difference I’d say.
Good evening from a very wet Boissevain, Manitoba. We are on our way home from our summer sojourn in northern Saskatchewan. I did get to do a little train spotting today as we passed through the Pas, Manitoba, the home of the Hudson Bay Railroad. I have attached a photo of a couple of CN castoffs taken in the Pas yard. Will post a few more interesting marked power units during the week.
Looking forward to getting home and working on the layout.
Have a good Tuesday.
Early morning…
Janie, a coke please.
Just got back, had a midnight phone call, burglar alarm @w**k was going off. Met the store manager, her husband, and local PD. No one was inside, no forced entry, nothing apparently wrong inside. Did a walk through with two officers, no apparent reason for the alarm. It was their 4th tonight, so wonder if a power spike occurred?
I will say this… It is FOGGY outside tonight!
Well, I’m now going to bed, as it now going on for 0130 military time, 1:30 am eastern time, or way to stinking early my time. [:)]
Good night all.

Paul, don’t be afraid to ask for translations! There’s always a different way to state things that may be easier for you to understand. Besides, its fun and educational to learn ‘proper’ English, i.e. English as spoken by the British.

Dave
Good morning! [8D]
Good morning, Bill and Dave!
Everybody else… Wake up! …
I’ll have coffee and one of Lion’s sticky buns please.
I hope a sticky bun means a carmel pecan roll and not the result of Lion sitting on some honey.
Tom … Thanks for the photos. It must have been good seeing the train in person.
James … The old CN units may look scruffy, but I bet they run as good as new.
MoeLarryCurly … We just went to Paducah a few days ago to see Classic Trains at its new location with much more square feet. … I know the owner, Bill. He has a lot of stuff to chose from.
Is that a monitored alarm or just a local bell? If monitored, the monitoring company should be able tell you what set it off. The alarm sends a code or codes that identify the zone(s) violated.
Got one myself yesterday when the power failed. The alarm company called my cell to let me know the power was out. [8D]
No decent (commercial) alarm system should have a problem with a power spike. They all filter the power and have battery backup.
This morning we have BEAR CLAWS, with nuts and raisins. I don’t want to be around when the bear wakes up.
ROAR
As good as those bear claws look, Deadpool has different ideas. And you don’t want to cross Deadpool. Not when tacos are on the line.
Chef Ryan has adjusted the specials board accordingly. TACOS!!!
LIONS do not eat Tacos. LIONS do not LIKE Cheese.
Chinese is good, Rare Wildebeest is BEST. (but too costly for this LION to get too often.)
ROAR
Then they would be the only kind of cat that doesn’t love cheese. [^o)]
If it’s Taco Day, I will take two salmon tacos for lunch. Wait, what?! You know, salmon tacos–baja style. Not in this diner? Okay, then a couple of beef tacos and a root beer.
The rain is gone, the air is dry, and the temperature has fallen–perhaps autumn has arrived in Arizona. It was 57F at 5:30 this morning when I left on my ride. That’s getting real close to my cold riding limit. I used to ride in much cooler/colder weather, but as I have aged, I have become a bit more wimpy about riding in the cold. Typically, 55F is my limit but I may venture out when it is 50F, but that is definitely the exception.
I get to see the grandkids this weekend! We are venturing up to Idaho. I am using frequently-flyer points to fly up there and rental bonus points for a free car. All of the travel does have it’s occasional benefit.
Since I added the section to my layout, I have only been running DC. I had DCC running before, but I have be hesitant to switch over. I keep hearing my father’s voice in the back of my head, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I am going to make a switch to easily switch back and forth between DC and DCC. My staging tracks are isolated and I have the ability to turn the power on and off to each of the tracks, so I can park DC and DCC-equipped locomotives on the track and leave them there, regardles of which power supply is active.
Afternoon Diners,
All go with the beef tacos also and don’t forget the double chocolate chip brownie.
I finally tested my CR 8-40CW #6060. She ran very well and fast on DCC on knob 4. How come locomotives power has to be cracked up at 4 -6 speed just to get it rolling. My track is clean before I run the train. It’s the idea that toys into mind once and while.
Good afternoon.
TACOS!!! Someone say Tacos?!?
Steve - National Taco day?!? YES!!! I’m with deadpool on this one! TACOS!!! That is the second time I have seen Deapool this week. (Saturday he was at Berea Ohio Comicon.) Good thing I have been on his good side!
Flo - I will have two of the beef tacos, with spicey taco sauce, please. Of course with cheese, thank you. Can I get a order of nachos to go with it? Awesome. And a glass of lemonade would be great, thanks.
Lion - If you want, I will have Flo bring you tacos, sans cheese. I will even buy. (Just a spiced beef wrap if tortilla shell, or a crunchy spiced beef nacho topping if hard shell style.) Maybe, if we ask nicely, they might even be able to do one special, in wildebeesties instead of cows…
Central Gulf - Monitored. The company that monitors called me, to inform me of the issue, interior motion detector faulted, and its location, and that they had dispatched local PD. It was local Pd’s fourth alarm call of the night, all turned out to be false alarms, hence my power spike theory. The system sent out a faulted interior smoke/fire/CO2 alarm(s) this morning, and FD was sent shortly before 10am. (Although, there is very little water available to use in putting out fires, so there is a city wide burn ban in effect, as well as a emergency declaration from the city and township, due to lack of water… See further info below…) I was hoping that they would call me to bring the marshmallows! [;)] (If you can’t put out the fire, you should get to enjoy it, right?) It turned out to be a false alarm as well, so something is totally going on with the security system…
Trains - Someone had asked about the NS OCS train. It is the executive officers train, as was mentioned. Here is one of the shots I got of it in Berea Ohio on Saturday evening.
Hi, Bill!
Evening Gang! Hope this finds everyone doing well. Prayers to those in need. Chloe - How about a nice big bowl of Wegman’s Peanut Chocolate Stampede Ice Cream, please? Oh, and a glass of water too? Thanks. I will be over in the corner booth trying to come up with a name for my new Amazon Storefront Business. Have a good evening everyone! Last one out, make sure the fire is out before locking up the joint. Don’t need to hear about this place burning down cause someone forgot to put out the fire.
Evenin’ fol… Wow!
Whole lot of faces I haven’t seen in a while back here in the diner! Great… Janie put whatever John and Terry are having on my tab please… Oh and I could use a cup of decaf please.
Finally today a bunch of items have started to fall intop place. The Pro Sound Store I use for Sound Equipment had told me evertything I have ordered (and need ASAP) would be in late in the day Thursday. I was prepared to brave Rush Hour in Rochester, NY traffic to be at his shop to pick the items up and to be at camp early afternoon Friday to get the installation finished. He emails me this afternoon and tells me everything will be at his store by 10AM tomorrow. So guess what I’ll be doing early tomorrow afternoon… Got my hearing aids cleaned so I now can hear better, heard from the other NMRA Officers on some things for the upcomming meet I have been fretting about, have the person in place to make coffee and get donuts for the Meet, and should hear tomorrow about whether the clinic I am hoping for and a club layout will be open for it. Also stopped at a lumber yard to see if they might have some broken cieling tiles I could get cheap for the additional rockwork at Keuka Creek on the layout. Nope, but I could buy a case of 40 for $40… I only need about 3 of them to do the job. After I got home i thought about the gent who rebuilt my living room for me a year ago. He was one of my students way back when, so I sent him an email asking if he might just have some broken ones laying around from some job. His reply 5 mionutes later was “How many do you need I have some broken ones they are full just broken corners. But I have a bunch Let me know I will drop off to your house.” Nice to have friends in the business…[swg]
For those that don’t know how it works, you just break up the til
A wet good evening to all. Drove in rain about half of the day. At this time of day a nice cup of tea is in order.
Today’s diesel offering comes in Kelona Pacific colors. I had to do a little internet research to find out what and where the Kelona Pacific operated. Duh, the Kelona Pacific was a short lived branch line operating through Kelona, B.C. It operated for a short 3 years and went broke. The CN took most of the branch line back and continues to offer service. As best as I can tell, the Hudson Bay Railroad ended up with a couple of Kelona Pacific power units and operates them out of the Pas yard. A couple more strange road name units to follow.

Ride On my brother in northern Oregon has been a lifetime avid bike rider and rides his bike to work daily. I don’t think its very far but in the winter 40 is almost every day.
I rode motorcycles to work for years down to 40, below that I took the car. I had a heavy coat, good gloves and a helmet with face shield.
Ray:
Your work with the ceiling tiles is excellent! I’ve seen a few layouts where the layers were a bit too obvious but your tiles look very convincing.
When I worked at Home Depot we threw out damaged tiles at the end of every day, and most days there seemed to be at least a couple of them. If you want broken tiles I would first ask the store if they are willing to let you have them.

Dave
