Jeffrey's Trackside Diner, December 2018, from the Christmas City of Bethlehem Pennsylvania!

MY last words…

“Hey! Is that a headlight?”

Lack Luster Day Not much to post about.

Blood Surger is high but I think it is more of the strips I am using. My normal range had been 80 to 90’s when I get up. Now it is in the 154 to 180 range? Then it dawned on me the gas heater in the garage is dead! I store the meter and test strips in the garage on a outside wall cabinet, with out the gas heater going it does get cold. So maybe that has effect the test strips?

To darn bad I had to get a brake job this month or the gas heater would have been replaced by now! [sigh]

Ed Coupler box did not get lost, it got broken in half? I will find a doner so it won’t be a problem. I was going to use a coupler box of a RIP Rio Grand SD but it’s coupler box is held on with screws? Like the idea better but not sure if it will fit.

Ulrich … Thank you. I think we should try to remember Jeffrey on the 15th.

I will, Garry.

I miss him very much. Jeff was like the heart and soul of this place, always helpful and friendly, while life played more than just one trick on him.

Thanks for the video, Dan. The first V12 I heard was a Packard Merlin in a Mustang but in reality, I’m not fussy!! Any V12, be it Packard, Rolls Royce, or Allison suits me just fine.

One of the more interesting sounds, when working on the ramp, was an unexpected fast low pass along the runway by a P40 Kittyhawk and a Vought FU4 Corsair, the combination of the Allison V12 and the 28-cylinder Pratt and Whitney radial, both on song was [8D][tup][tup]

mornin’ everyone. Flo, just leave the coffee pot right here… was up far too late last night (er, well, for me) helping my inlaws pack up a u-haul to take my SIL’s stuff over to Philadelphia. So, maybe I’ll eventually be seeing all this PA stuff in person, heh.

Glad you guys liked the P51 [:)]. And now for something completely different:

Well, ill be in here for a bit this morning. As of today, I’ll officially be a homeowner-I sign the deed today. UnfortunatelyI can’t move in yet, since construction is still being undertaken. Plus I meet thr company doing my windows Today for measurements, so I took the day off. The original windows are the old single pane aluminim windows that constantly fog up no matter what you’d do. Hopefully by feb, I’ll be in there and starting to make it my own. Hopefully, and working on the train layout downstairs to.

I was going to say an Al’s #1 Italian Beef. Outstanding, but have plenty of napkins. I second your pizza choices though. Giordano’s is a must anytime we are there.

Congratulation, Jimmy! From now on, you will always know, where to spend yor time and money!

Is it April already? We have a mix of sunshine and rain showers here, with temperatures around 45F and climbing well over 50 by the end of the week! Christmas is in 3 weeks from today and we should be getting snow!

Good morning all,

Has it been that long since Jeffrey passed? my how time flies.

Garry you are heading to FLa at the right time. It appears a major Winter storm may hit us this weekend.

Pizza is the one thing I have not had in Chicago. It is hard when Mrs. MLC only eats veggies and not a lot of those. ( too many calories)

I like hole in the wall restraunts when ever I travel, they tend to have the best food and service.

Top of page food is on me!

Yes, Lake effect snow comes from the lake as described… It is not dependent on a weather front.

PS LION LOVES French Toast… Muchasa Thankus!

Buy the kind of door hnadle that looks like a lever. For a front door it may be more expensive, but maybe you can replace the handle witout replacing the innards.

I love that lkever type handle.

You can also buy a lever to fit on a door knob. It will work quite a pit like the wrence that she is asking for. Ask your locksmith about these things.

I remember having quite a few issues with door knobs not working during my time in the US. We don´t have them here - we still prefer old fashioned door hnadles (levers).

I just went on a trip down memory line by watching a video of a train trip from LA to Seattle onboard the Amtrak Coast Daylight train. I took this trip the other way around back in the Spring of 1974. It was a one in a lifetime experience for me. I rember the train being pulled by a E8 A+B set- The silverware in the dining car still had SP on the cutlery, but the menue was already “boiled down” to burgers and the like.

Fond memories!

I was going to offer up some Chicago-style deep dish pizza as today’s lunch special, but then I remembered SeeYou190 is in Chicago; the rest of us are in eastern Pennsylvania. Speaking of which, did you know Chester County, Pa., just west of Philly, grows about half the nation’s mushrooms? So today’s lunch special is cream of mushroom soup. Enjoy!

Railfanning with the funky High Cab GP39-2 at Garfield, Utah on my way home from school today. [:P]

mushrooms They don’t like me… I will spend the next day in the loo.

looks like one of those Russian built units they used in PTRA in Houston.

From Strasburg and the Pennsylvania RR Museum, one restored Reading camelback and one that will probably never be restored.

Congratulations Jimmy! Mortgage payments can be scary but they are better than paying rent. When you pay rent somebody else gets all the money. When you buy a house the money gives you equity in the house, which is just like putting money in the bank. Well, most of the time it is. Based on its current value my house has paid me 8.1% every year for 30 years, tax free, and that includes 10 years where the market value basically went nowhere.
