On commuter trains, our home in south London was near Morden, the southern terminus of the London Transport Northern Line.
I had diffictulty finding a colour image of their trains from that era, so this one is too early, but shows the red livery which I remember.content://com.android.chrome.FileProvider/images/screenshot/17488782550521111267942.jpg
Congratulations on your wedding! Hoping you have a wonderful life together.
Sorry, that image may not open as the url pasted too close to other text.

Love that movie
Here’s another look at the 833, this time at Marion, Oh. one of my favorite railroad ‘hangouts’ in the '70s. This is probably the ‘Lake Cities’ westbound:
I’ve got the 4020 and 4021 on the Conrail OCS:

I did see the 4022 in Altoona back in the late '90s or so. Note to modelers who are picky about paint colors, why does the carbody and running gear/pilot have two different greens?

Waiting for 15 tons of #8 limestone to be delivered. This is to ‘dress-up’ the walking paths we have around the property. I’ll be busy for a while
Finally, some ‘summer-like’ weather! Mid 70s today and 80s tomorrow! Yay!
Cheers, Ed
Hi Flo, we’ve been out in the Scottish Borders today and ended-up at Peebles, along the River Tweed valley, but it is quite a drive so please could I have a bottle of San Miguel, thank you.
This is a limited-print (I think) of a watercolour painting by John Lass, a Chicago artist who painted Trains and Streetcars, CSS&SB Car #19 at Bendix.
I picked it up off eBay uk, some time ago. It is not in A1 condition and I had to obtain an A3 Picture-frame and card-mount, to just squeeze it into.
But I just like the subject, colours, the everyday Commuter scene, general atmosphere and the way in which it has been depicted. Also, I think the perspective is good.
I have several books covering the South Shore Line, but despite having read of the name ‘Bendix’, I cannot locate the actual Station, or wherever it was, or even if there was one?
(I am aware there were consumer products, produced by ‘Bendix’ Corp.)
The only issue I have with the painting is that amongst my collection of original Monet’s, Rembrandt’s and Vermeer’s, etc. I haven’t got a spare inch of wall to hang it, but I’ll keep this print over one of them - any day.
Paul.
If you run out of space, just send me one of the original Monet’s. I like those!
Thanks for the London Transport 2-6-0. I’ve not seen that. I was aware of steam power on the Underground. Must have been before Health and Safety!
A dish of the new crop rhubarb with custard please, plenty of Xylitol sweetener, though…
Mrr time squeezed in. More trees made. Tending towards deciduous as the topography flattens out, not that the hills in Nova Scotia aren’t forrested, because (and especially in Cape Breton) they certainly are! It’s just that on this part of the layout I think deciduous will make a contrast to the conifers on the mountain…
Copy and Paste - wish it worked on this Android Tablet…
a boy can but dream!
Have an excellent evening everone, time here in Nova Scotia to watch the news…
Good evening all. Winding down on my bachelor party out in Harpers Ferry, WV. Got to enjoy dinner overlooking the train station, and tonight we saw several trains going by. Heres a few highlights.
Good morning Diners. A day of sunshine and showers.
Friends visiting for Afternoon Tea.
Oldest grandson visiting after school.
Meanwhile, a large coffee please, Zoe.

Good Morning Diners. With a couple of wedding happenings going on with diner folks, (Congratulations @NimbusRI & @mdmasc91 !), seems we should have an appropriate breakfast celebration here. I’ll supply the doughnuts. York1, can you bring the bacon? Will you share it? Anybody else? It’s a potluck celebration!
No big news from my neck of the woods. Lots of little things occupying my time lately so not much to talk about. Here’s one I prepped for the Show Me thread, but didn’t need to use it.
Have a good day everyone!
Here’s a great view of the 833 with EL 28 leaving the NKP/CUT connection to join the main line to Youngstown.
Interested to see your water looks the ‘forbidden colour opposite to white’. My observation also, but many choose to add blue. I’d rather finish with high gloss and let the background be reflected.
Since I use almost all water based materials for this, ModPodge Gloss is what I know.
Do you have any other to suggest?
It is just a sponge like foam. Just a representation of a tiny section of the dock basin.. As for colour maybe one day I shall put streaks of oily blue on the foam. That is way down on the list.
Good morning from a warm, sunny bit of paradise where it is15c.
Congrats on taking the plunge! Took me 40 years to find someone I actually wanted to marry and it has been great.
Busy day yesterday. It was pouring rain yesterday and I was up before 0500hrs and knocked off 9kms with a mutt. He was a wet mess when we got home.
The sun came out about an hour after we got home.
I have been helping my wife clean up one of her rose gardens over the last few days, it was a mess and due to her declining health she could not do the heavy lifting on it. So I went and got a load of bark mulch.
So after 9kms and 5yards of mulch I collapsed on the patio with my phone to catch up on things and my perfect wife sends me a photo of my frosty stein of choice just out of the freezer and asks, Beer or iced Mocha?
Here’s what I chose.
Almost every night my wife asks, “what do you want for dinner?” and every night I always say “steak”. Of course she will cook something else that is just fantastic so I am always happy. So, last night she asks, “what do you want for dinner?” I say “steak!” Instantly she says dinner is ready so I go inside and there is a 22oz rib steak on my plate. What can I say, the perfect wife, who is very easy on the eyes.
I mentioned a while back that years ago we had gifted to us by a well known friend and Horticulturist a lot of mature Rhododendrons that came from her property that was sold to a developer who was going to level her life’s work. Yesterday a landscaper knocked on our door and asked if we would like to sell them as he is landscaping a massive development and has a big budget. I had no idea how many we had but we walked the property and counted 29. He offered what I thought was a ridiculous amount of money ( on the high side) for the lot of them. Who knew? They are not going anywhere as the person who gave them to us still comes to visit them on a regular basis.
Better get at it.
All the best to all.
