Boy, this place is dead for a Saturday.

Good morning from the sunny West side where it feels like fall@10c.

Last night I went out for a stroll around the joint at about 10:30 and saw a Star Link satellite train release, it was the second in just a few days, it is quite a sight to witness. Apparently Star link has over six thousand of these things up there now.

Got the kid’s moved in to their new place, I am actually feeling the effects of all that heavy lifting. I hate getting old. I fixed one toilet yesterday and have a few other things to attend to, but nothing urgent. Today we move all my sons computers and his six screens he uses for work and set his new office up. I moved three desk in already and there is one more new large one that arrived that we need to get in place.

Need to ride the Deere for an hour or so this weekend. Our first weather event moved further North than expected so we will now have to suffer in sunshine.

All the best to all.

Getting the toilet fixed sounds pretty urgent to me.

At the moment, our Water Co. have turned off the supply, until ‘an unplanned water supply issue’ is resolved. So right now, no toilets or showers or washing the dishes.
It has rained here for the last 24 hours and at 18;00 the sky is almost dark with heavy clouds.
I’ve had to drink my remaining bottle of ‘San Miguel’ and hope that Flo’ can fix me up with another, for this evening.
Cheers, Paul.

Much the same here. The water has been contaminated.

You can always collect the rainwater in a bucket and dump it into the toilet tank. When you gotta go, you gotta go.

So, it has been pre-contaminated?

No water? Just go outside and get water as clean as it comes. You city folk need to get with the program.

Heck, David. What on earth with? I know there are often complaints about untreated sewage flowing into rivers, etc.

Hi Maxman, I’ve been doing that with the Watering cans filled from the house gutters, that I use to keep the Bird-table topped-up. My need is greater than the dickie-birds at this moment in time.

Brent, I wouldn’t trust the water from anywhere around here, unless it is out of the official Tap.
Paul.

I wonder what caused the contamination. Having no use of the toilet sounds extraordinary in this day and age.

Rich

Nor I. The quality is dropping all the time.

Brent, not everyone has a stream running thru their neighborhood

Regards, Chris

Living in a house with a well, this is why in 2010 I had a standby generator installed. When power goes out (often enough) just wait 30 seconds and it powers up and lights come on. I was the first in my neighborhood to get one and today it’s about 75% of homes have one.

I realize that and that is why I used the wink emoji.

Yep, still remember that derecho that passed through western PA for a week back in April. Fortunately, a neighbor lent us a portable one so we were able to charge phones, use the microwave, and run the freezer. Still remember the power came right back on right as I was powering up the generator. Right after I fired it up my brother comes running out the door to tell me the power’s back on. Good thing too. While I was able to keep my morale high all that time, I was really annoyed about taking cold showers that week.

I just went to the Supermarket to buy a pack of 4 bottles of water.
What a mistake! 2 sets of temporary traffic-lights and a stream of water flowing down the High-street, whilst the Water Co. were digging it up and effecting repairs to a fractured Mains supply-pipe.
Still, at least the rain has stopped, the wind has eased and the sky is blue. I can clear a blocked Down-spout and then get on with some Train-time.
Thank goodness for the Diner, this evening.
Paul.

Good morning all. A large coffee on the go please, Flo.
After 24 hours the rain has stopped. A thing called the sun is in the sky.

Oldest grandson stayed overnight and is going home after lunch.

I have arthritis in my left hand. Yesterday I could feel it in my right hand. Another challenge to overcome..

Just the last of the ballasting of granddaughter’s layout to do. She should be pleased when she returns.

Good morning from the almost light out West Coast where it is 14c. It poured rain overnight and smells terrific outside, can’t wait to hit the trails this morning.

Speaking of bottle water, the bottled water we get on the West Coast gets shipped everywhere, the funny thing is it comes right out of the city water supply without any additional filtering, the only thing they are required to do is add more chlorine to add to the shelf life. Yet there are people that have been brainwashed to only drink bottled water no matter what. I will admit that when we have been traveling, even the bottled water taste like crap after our tap water.

David, Arthritis is my biggest issue and I will go down fighting. My mom had it bad and made herself play the piano constantly to fight it off in her hands. It bought her a lot of time and I do the same by playing the guitar constantly. If I miss a day or two or longer if we go away my hands seize right up.

ED, great shot of 1401, love that paint scheme. I still have to get my latest acquisitions on the layout. I am not sure how difficult it is to convert a brass Jubilee to DCC I will have to look into it. Ed, wanna trade your Hudson for a Jubilee? I am still kicking myself I didn’t get a 2860 when they were issued.

There was a CP Park car at the auction and when I went for the viewing the day before I put it under the other stuff in the lot which was mostly junk hoping it would be missed. I put a bid in of $200.00 and I think it went for twice that.

Our water was off for the best part of a day a couple of times for our major renovations. Being surrounded by forest we could just hide behind a tree with a 10’ diameter and take care of business. I filled some buckets for the ladies for the toilets but even my daughter made like a bear a couple of times.

It was about this time last year Dave and I were discussing what he was going to do with his MRR inventory when he passed. It was then he offered me the plough and a few other things. I was deeply moved by that. We continued to chat right up to the end with his wife manning the keyboard in the last few days.

Well. I can see out to the road now so time to get the hikers on and go!

All the best to all.
