A lot of lights, but in our opinion, tastefully done. I’m not a big fan of most of the light displays that win the corny small town light contest awards that have lights everywhere with no rhyme, reason, or apparently thought to what looks good. This was just after Thanksgiving when we got the only snow we’ve seen (other than a dusting here or there).
In the first picture, you can see the lights hanging garland style down the fence. It’s about twice as long as you can see in the picture. Also, if you look in the front window closely, you can see our two downstairs trees. The one right in front of the window done in clear lights, the other in the next room over done with multicolored lights. Their bottom branches were only about 5 feet apart.
You’re right there Track Fiddler. Often what just wasn’t cooperating one day, goes smoothly the next. Good luck!
Very nice lights Mike. I for one can still hear the bell and got a great score at Home Depot today. 4-25’ sets of C-9s for 2.29CA/$1.71USD. Only 356 days til Christmas, can’t wait.
Hey, Brent! Are you sure you didn’t score electric strawberries, there? Man, that’s gobs of preservatives if they’ll keep for another ten or eleven months. Just hopin’ you’re not putting all that good health at risk. [(-D]
First chance to see the diner in about 3 weeks. I didn’t even get to read the last week or so of last month’s diner.
Dave: Nice job of moving the diner in somewhat adverse circumstances. Looks like we’re doing tropical this month. That’s fine. I’ll have to see if I have any appropriate pics to share.
Streetcars. I was a bit young to see any actual street cars of the Cleveland Railway but I did sometimmes ride a trolley bus to school. I did enjoy the PCC cars of the Shaker Rapid which mostly ran on private right-of-way.

A northbound train led by BPMX 9224, a GP38-2 of NdeM heritage, rounds the bend at the intersection of Calle 25 and Calle 38A in Mérida on February 14, 2020.
Sri Lanka:
Seems there was a shortage of ties when they built this one:
Good morning, diners. Bacon, eggs, and black coffee. Lots of coffee this morning.
I had hoped to get laying some streetcar track yesterday, but instead worked on moving more track that might be in the way. The track that got moved was for a future siding, so not a real problem. It also involved taking out an under the table switch machine. Maybe today will be laying track day!
When problems became more frequent here, I found myself on another unnamed forum. That forum also has a “diner”. On that other one, I just checked this morning, and the discussion is about boxer shorts. [sigh] No thanks! I like our “diner” just fine.
Here’s hoping our waitresses continue serving us for a long a time.
Well, not any more. We split up a few years ago, legally, but it was longer ago than that that emotionally. I stayed until our daughter finished college and those bills were paid. I left Taxachusetts where the old home was becoming unaffordable anyway and moved to Delaware with the GF, where we are now.
I got a nice email from Ulrich in Germany. He and Petra are in their new home and location, but haven’t been able to enjoy it very much because of health issues for both of them. The good news is he said there was light at the end of the tunnel.
He sounded very upbeat, and I hope he and Petra have a great 2024.
Good morning, diners. I’ll have some black coffee, please.
Took the dog out for a walk, and there was more snow on the driveway. Just enough to make it white.
Lion, I didn’t know you took pictures near my town! I guess North Dakota looks a lot like Nebraska. I think we have several more trees than you do, but that’s about it.
This photo says it was taken in Ecuador, and I don’t think you can get more tropical than the country on the Equator, but I don’t know anything more about it. Could it be part of a tourist train? I’ve never seen something like this before.
