Garry…There was actually 12 models, if You count the three 4-wheeler’s, Pontiac, Old’s and Willy’s. The others, Athearn, Sylvan, Don Mills, Alloy Forms and LoneStar kits, all with redone suspension, so they roll…Oh except the Autos, those are static…too hard, to make them roll.
Ulrich: The “U.” in the copyright for the music in your video wouldn’t be for “Ulrich,” would it?
This weekend I am taking a bit of a risk. As a youth, I took piano lessons for many years. I have continued to play. A piano was one of the first major investiments we made after we were married. (Mrs. ROR also plays.) At the beginning of this year, I went to a concert with two of my children and was awestruck with the playing of one of the featured pianists. A quick Google search and I discovered she teaches private lessons. Fast forward to this weekend and I am playing in her studio recital. I am at least a generation older than any of her other students, and most are young enough to be my grandchildren. The last time I did any sort of a solo performance was over twenty years ago. Yes, I am a bit nervous.
UP831 - “YGW: Is Mike Holmes that guy who’s covered in dirt and does the paper towel commercials?” UP831 not sure if he does commercials or not but he does have a show where he makes a living running other people down trying to make himself look good. — When one is a REAL PROFESSIONAL he never runs other companies or other workers down. He lets his character, professionalism, workmanship etc… speak for itself. When you are good, have character, professional others will beat your door down to hire or employee you.
Lion - LOL - When I saw your pictures I laughed out loud. Caught me by surprise. How did you go from a sailer to monk ? Is it a John Newton story ?
Galaxy - In my recent move the transition was the worst part. Glad that is over. Good luck with this phase.
Cuda - dont do it stay away from the [B]
Things are haywire at w**k, have several venders underperforming or massively screwing up. Gotta run.
That is the hard part we/I knwo and most will fall to me as MOH has to work so we can pay for the house!
A 15 yard dumpster will have to be here next week or two to dump/throw stuff in! Not trains, but there are plenty of them to pack up!
SO we will see, I will beg off the extra fees for keeping dumper longer than 1 week as they chrge by the day then, i will say I am disabled and will need twice as long!!
I will surely lose weight during this phase.
we seem to have an intestinal bug, not too good and i got my flu shot today. I don’t care what tehy say, we alwyas get the flu-like symptoms when we get our shots, so I w ill be miserable the next few days.
dunno
we will see what is next.

Wheb n we had a big dumpster like that in Brooklyn you had to post an armed guard at the dumpster to keep the neighbors from filling it up. Whe we got on in Manhattan we could fill it up three times before they carted it away.
It’s been awhile since I posted here. A mocha latte and some glazed French crullers would do me just fine.
Got to do xrays and an MRI to investigate the pinched nerve in my lumbar that’s causing so much nerve and muscle chaos in my already bad…surgery and radiation damaged right leg. Sciatica, what a vicious problem. 35 years of very physical jobs and worsening arthritis is most likely the culprit.
Anyway. Even with that hot ice pick sticking in the lumbar, I’m trying to get my layout better prepared for the Reno/Carson City layout tours on the 7th and 8th of November. Last year I was too last minute to get on the list, but this year I got a good jump on things and am officially on the tour list. The other nice thing about the tours…I’ll get a 5 day weekend out of it. Got some scenery to do and under the table wiring (a real challenge for a six footer with a painfully rigid back) for a few signals and adding blocks.
Two weeks after the tours I go into my holiday hours at the grind, 11.5 hr days, 5 days a week. Good money, but horrible on the body…I’m an old…old 54. Typically, I hate life for a couple of weeks after those hours. I am a full time grinch regarding the holidays. LOL.
I’m a bit late getting in here today. Janie, a cup of decaf is in order for now…
Spent the morning out at Boy Scout Camp helping get the sound system up and running for the Coiuncil Trophy Camporee this weekend. They have over 2,000 Scouts and Scouters registered for it again. I took out my other two Yamaha Monitor speakers to use with the two they have as front end speakers. Normally they only have to have the sound going out directly in front of the stage, but with this crowd that means half of the people can’t hear it as they are circling 3 sides of the stgae. Using the 4 speakers should give the coverage they need. I told them to get the speakers covered if it rains. Sure hope they did as it has been pouring out… These are not outdoor speakers!
Gort back home early afternoon, grabed a quick lunch while the car got some more battery charge and headed to Canandaigua to feed the Cat(s) at my sister’s house. She will be back home this Wednesday and I’m sure Claude the cat will be estatic! I have given him lots of play time and belly scratch, and head rub time. he greets at the front door every day and is glad to see me. Absolutely a sweet 19.5lb. kittie.
Brother Elias, very sorry to hear of your accident. I bet you didn’t know I have a pair of Lions at my house! Yep, they were a present to my wife and I a year before she died. They still give me comfort and remind me what a good pair we were… Today they were on track down cellar: (On Track Fee Lions)
So after discussing your problem with Leo, he decided to be trained today and head to the midwest to help keep you company while you mend:
I used to be HEad Reciever for a very busy dept store for years… That meant EVery box of mdse-no matter size or weihgt- that passed through that store went thorugh My hands, often litterally and physically. I would have a crew of up to 8 under me durning the busy months, but still didn’t get me out of offloading and sorting the case of 2 0r 3 65’ {tractor}trailers packed with mdse on top of and in between all pallets in just 8 hours.ften I was by MYSELF to unload entirely the trucks.
I was young strong and foolish!
I herniated a disc that is now apparently jsut buldged.
My back, a labral tear in the right hip and arthritis in the body,…most notably the back and left knee is why I use a cane!
At least things like my fingers are not knarled {yet} with the arthritis.
We have a “safe and secure” neighborhood and with it in our driveway, I doubt the neighbors will do much dumping, and anyone is welcome to take anything we dispose of!
sorry but I beg to differ adn I diagree with you, YGW:
A “professional” knows what is rihgt, does it rihgt the first time so it doesn’t need to be redone. And if he/she is NOT,then they deseerve to have their name and reputations dragged through the mud.
If one is an idiot in carrying out “professional” duties, then one deserves to have one’s work and integrity “run down” the company or workers as you call it, by someone who knows what is the right thing to do. I have seen walls built on TV that OBVIOUSLY wouldn’t support the structure, and I ain’t no construciton engineering genious! They HAVE changed the laws in CAnada {where MH isfrom} to allow people RIPPED OFF by “contractors” to be able to sue and charge them with crimes due to MH’s efforrts.
Like here, a contract can do shody work- even dangerous work- and still collect pament or simply place a lein on a property to get their money. The homowner has NO recourse but the $3k or so in small claims court. AND a lien can STIll be placed agianst the property and the homonwer has recourse aganst that either, nor is even alerted to it…
I am sorry, but that is worng.
Both the last contractors My FIL had {roofer and a searate siding contractors} took his money, demanded more {like double the estimate and initial “payment in full”} to &qu
Little busy Friday. Called all the customers that had pick up’s at the store and explain why we where not open Wed and Thursday. (did not bring up Dave real problem) Luckly no one was mad. Most will be picking up today.
Does Dave still work for the company? Who knows. He is not scheduled to work next week and I have a Salesperson wanted sighn on the door. That diffrent. I have no idea if he will show up today. If I was a betting man, I would say No he won’t show.
Cutting back on smoking. I was a 2.25 pack a day smoker, this week I am avg 27.0 cigarettes a day. I know, just one a day is to many! But is a good start I think. With Dave not working, it will be harder to get to the Stop Smoking Clinc. For now I am back to working 6 days a week.
YGW, I can’t even have even one [B]? [:'(]
I feel like I have the beer demon licked at this point. I don’t crave it like I use to. I hardly think about drinking after I get home. In the last 15 days I have only drank [B] 4 times.
1 BBQ reason I drank, that when I decided using BBQing was a Cop Out and have not had a beer while cooking after that.
2 Zoning letter, yea that one put me straight into the beer cooler.
3 Having Dave hauld away by the police. I was stressed all day and having a few cold ones did help me relax.
4 Worked hard in the backyard. Like I said I earned that day.
Well, I have to go to the bank for work so I got to go.
It´s a dull day, as Barry would say. It has stopped raining, though, but it´s still gray and rather dark. No sign of improvement in the next days. As it seems, the “golden October” will be postponed to next year!
My order of paint and ballast arrived. It was short of 1 bottle of paint and the ballast is the wrong one. Oh yes, it´s the one I ordered, but it is to fine to be used for ballasting the track. My fault! It is not a complete loss, I can use it for ballasting the paths left and right of the track. Today´s mail came fairly early, so i was able to finish painting the track quite early as well. That one bottle delivered was sufficient to do the job, so I am not unhappy not having received the ordered second bottle. While the paint is drying, I started to watch a video series of the building of a “tiny house”. It shows the excellent job of a Canadian couple building their new home, all the way from the design stage, using Google SketchUp to the finished home. The videos are quite entertaining, but are also planting some thoughts into my brain …
Without going into further detail, things are getting quite rough at this end. The daily influx of Moslem “refugees” (most of them young males) amounts to between 15,000 to 20,000. I am not commenting on how wrong it is to undermine a society based on Christian values with such a high number of people not willing to adopt our legal and moral standards, but our society is not able to cope with this. It´s time to leave, but where to and how?
The whole issue is giving me more than just a headache.
Ken - 27 cigarettes a day are 27 too many. Reducing is not quitting, and quitting you should do! If you want to quit, put out the last one you smoked and that´s it! It´ll be a tough one for a few days, but it´ll improve soon.
Howdy … Lunch time here. I’ll have a slice of pizza and a coke, please.
Ray … That’s thoughtful of you to post the lions for Lion.
Lion … How soon can you get back to model railroading? Must be a challenge for people in north Dakota with their subway serive suspended.
Ulrich … Wish I could comment more on the topic in your third paragraph. I’ll simply say world leaders are not leading. … Glad you are working on your model railroad.
Barry ? … Ulrich mentioned Barry. Where are you, Barry?
Frank … If I decide to go ahead and get a Sylvan models truck kitt, may I ask you for advice?
YGW … Don’t let work stress get to you.
Ken … Hopefully, Dave is no longer working for your employer. I hope you can break the smoking habit.
Mark H … Good to see you. Sorry to hear about the lumbar pain.
Richard … So you are piano player, too. We have a talented group here in the diner.
V8 Dennis … I saw the CA mud slides in the news. What a mess !
Galaxy … Are you envioning modle rairlaid layouts in the new basement ?
On my layout, I continue with the rural scene project.
Only 2 posts in 7 hours since this morning. I saw a old movie on TV called it came from the bottum of the sea about a giant ocopus terrorizing everyone. 1950 cars.
FIrst, i envision FINISHING off the basment! THEn I envision just a nice 8’square {2’deep} shelf with central pit. Take two 4x8s and cut in 1/2 and put in a square, with 4’x4’ center square is about all. I cannot tke up the whole basemtn as we really wnat a finished room with a 1/2 bath down there and kitchen-ette, done on a budget, over time of course. AFTer we finish off the 3 season room! AFter we make some mods to the kitchen.
I will have to work it in but for now, don’t know…
