I’d be delighted to join you, and would hope it’s a tall frosty glass of IPA, but then it would be extremely churlish of me to question your hospitality, if it was another type of brew!!

“Bear, I have been thinking it is Saturday all day today. The thought of getting older scares me if I am a day ahead at 61”

Yeah it is scary! The way things are going lately, putting things in a “Safe Place” then forgetting where that safe place is, I’m considering getting my name tattooed on the inside of my left arm, in case I forget who I am!![^o)]

Cheers, the Bear.[:)]

JaBear You’re Just JaBear… No room for Improvement as far as I’m concerned.

Don’t ever get rid of those Forum funnies TF likes.

I will have a beer with you anytime. Wish I could[dinner][;)]…[#offtopic][:|]

Evening All! (at least in my neck of the woods.)

Ordered a few more parts. (Coach floor and a smokestack.)

Planning to play on the new layout on Monday. (My normal dinner spot is closed so I will probably end up ordering a pizza.) For once, I don’t have to worry about what time it is. Got the templates for cutting the yard road and probably will get the passenger platform expansion almost finished as well. (I still need to get one more platform package to have enough Atlas benches. I set up the benches back to back for the tourist road and will reuse the platforms.)

Agreed!

Riding through the Piedmont on the Old C&O in a Budd Dome-Diner. The ONLY way to travel [:D]

The other car I was riding that week was an L&N Pullman, the Oliver Hazard Perry (actually a former CN car, Mount Resplendent) [:-^] :

So well said Ulrich. So well said it put a chuckle in my gullet. I’m a high-strung sometimes hot-headed scot. Never as calm or even keeled as the likes of you.

I never understood. I don’t even know how you do it.

Honesty I’m ready to go in punching when you’re just always walking away smiling. Just don’t know how do you do it.

You are good people. Thank you for making me think sometimes[:)]

Perfect I think that’s your secret. We all need to learn to relax. That is what I am learning to do with the help of my dear sweet Judy.

Not so much anymore because I’ve mellowed out. She was telling me for years you need to settle down and breathe baby or you will have a heart attack before your 60.

I did listen to my Judy. I don’t throw the first stone anymore. Nobody throws a stone at me. My blood pressure is way down. I think I’m finally starting to tame down my high strung tendencies and I must say I’m liking this calm life better

PS I still do on occasion erupt a little bit[:^)] Thats the Scot in me. It never goes completely away.

I’m tired this morning. I wish I didn’t have to go to work. Saturdays are usually elective… not today. When I tell someone I’m coming to work the day before that’s what I do.

I just remembered I have to put my new plates on my truck this morning. They are due today. The funny thing is I’ve had them for two weeks, I never got around to it . I heard there’s no more grace period. When they’re expired they’re expired and that’s it.

Have a great day all[swg]

Good morning.

Regarding this months destination… We said Tennessee and Kentucky … We did not say Appalacia. … There plenty of railroad sites throughout TN and KY… …

We should be talking about all of TN and KY as was discssed previoisly.

Regarding who starts the thread… Of course it is good to volunteer to do that, but talk about it before hand… The person doing it should have already let it be known they will do it. … Perhaps, Ulrich was already spending his time with starting the new thread. he wasted his time because Steven NWP SWP did not let anybody know ahead of time of his intentions. … Common courtesy should have been exercised.

Brent … If you ever get to Nashville with your wife, let me know… I am about 100 miles northwest of Nashville.

Ed … Your photos look great.

So… Here is a photo I took in Nashville, TN… It is not Appalacia. It is, however, in Tennessee which is consistant with previous discussions.

Nashville is a hub of CSX. Big trains roll through downtown. There is a large freight yard south of downtown. The large building was Union Station, but now it is an upscale hotel and restaurant.

Here is another view from the bridge over the tracks. 6410 is a GP40-2 working with a road slug (not in photo ) hauling a MOW train. .

Morning Folks!

Well I guess I should’ve made my intentions public, my bad.

Bear, what was wrong with the RIP track? I copied it directly from Ulrichs version.

Well I’ll be around!

The riverboat tour as when we were in the deep south has been scheduled.

Please keep posting the pictures!

Greetings from Western KY

Since we were supposed too be in all of TN and KY here is a picture in Paducah of steam sometime in the 1960’s or 70;s juding by the phone booth on the left side of picture

This is the Jackson street overpass of the P&I ( Paducah and Illinois, a joint owned 16 mile RR owned by IC ( now CN) the CB&Q( Now BNSF) and P&L)

This area sure has changed.

A picture of the Illinios Central Hospital in Paducah KY unde contruction in 1919. This building still stands about 20 blocks from me. It is now known as the Katterjohn Building but now stands empty and in dissrepair.

Morning all.

So, Ky and Tn this month. Ok. I can go for that.

Next month, Vermont for the leaves, should be good. Possibly near peak color time. I like that idea Steve O.

November in the Great Lakes could be interesting, as the weather could be nice, or not so nice…

Ken - Hope the leaking AC is fixed, and hoping the best for the health issues.

Garry and MoeLarryCurly - Seeing as we are nearby, any objections to a few of us diners popping in to say hello?

Got a pleasant surprise, as I recently won a bay item I figured I would be way outbid on. Seems that this one slipped through everyone’s radar, so I just ended up with a group of 3-bay coal hoppers for $9 a car. Not bad. (I went with a max bid of $10 per car, counting shipping. There were several sets, and the others all went way higher, so I expected to miss this one as well.)

Add in the decals needed for the repaint, and I will have $12 per car in expenses, plus the miniscule amount for black craft paint, (I airbrush basic colors with craft paint thinned properly with the correct agents.) and the already on-hand metal wheelsets and Kadee’s, and I will have another set of hoppers ready to load. (This group will represent the new[er] rebuilt cars floating around the NS system.)

W*^k front - Decent day yesterday at the new j*b, hitting a spiff and having a decent commission for the day. The not so fun part was that the phone line was down, so, the security and fire alarms kept malfunctioning, as they couldn’t communicate with their respective monitoring offices… So, that got annoying real quick! (Nothing like setting off a burglar alarm unintentionally while customers are on the salesfloor!)

Car - Did rear brakes and rotors, and now I have a “dust shield” rubbing now… Grr… [:(!] [banghead]

Hope all are well, and all enjoy the day!

Rick … Sounds good to me. … Let us know.

MLC … We still need to get together.

The restraint exhibited by you old timers is admirable.

True, but everyone knows what happens if the young wolf’s howling gets out of line. Sometimes some not so gentle direction is required.

It should also be pointed out that if you happen to not like meatloaf and not say anything, you will be served meatloaf for the rest of your life.

I like meatloaf. Especially the way my mom made it when I was a kid: with onions and green peppers and red peppers and garlic and diced up celery and whatnot . . .

I also like donuts. Friday is donut day at the office. There is one guy who is always the first one in the break room picking up each and every donut before choosing one for himself. That is very annoying. And a little gross. Pass.

Robert

Here are some more pictures from our western Ky tour

In the 1950’s the IC decided to replace the Wickliffe KY to Cairo IL bridge that had been built in 1889.

Here is a sequence on replacing one span.

Garry: yes we still need to get together.

I am a little confused about the “problem.” If Ulrich is 4-7 hours ahead of us and he opens the diner at his leisure, the diner is open before any of us are rubing the sleep out of our eyes. Where’s the problem?
