Jersey Central heritage #1071 SD70ACe

Jersey Central Heritage SD70ACe #1071 is completed at Muncie. Now I’m anxiously waiting for Illinois Terminal #1072 to show up:)

Glad to see it, even more glad they did it, but I’m not sure the paint scheme works on an SD-70. I think the “Sea Green” with the yellow “Toothpaste” stripes would have been better. But as a Jersey Central fan I’ll enjoy seeing the locomotive anyway “if and when”.

I love the Heritage program and this is a great job. However, I think the CNJ dark green with yellow stripe and Liberty emblem would have worked better on the unit. Also, this color was used only at the very beginning of dielsization and was quickly replaced with the green which lasted decades longer.

Looks like NS is choosing the flashier, brighter paint schemes…

I guess to set them apart from the 56,000,000 black widebodies they roster.

With the exception of Penn Central which, along with N&W’s 1970s black, were the forerunners of NS’s current scheme.

But notice they went with the blue N&W paint. PC, they don’t have much choice. Unless they do the red P…

I thought PC was blotches of rust poorly painted over with black that didn’t really cover the rust.

Well then we’ll see what the Penn Central scheme looks like…it HAS TO be black and white as that’s all they ever had…it will be bland at best…but then NS has lots of black and white paint laying around for sure.

I wonder why they didn’t do the “Red Baron” scheme, then.

I always thought the blue and orange scheme needed some sort of stripe along the boundary between the two colors…white or yellow, I think…

This one looks neat.

My idea for the next heritage unit. A New Haven / PC patched with rust!!

Thx IGN

The original “Tangarine and Blue” paint scheme had a red border on the boundary of the tangerine and blue, but was discarded as an economy move. Too bad, it looked sharp!
