John Smith’s delightful O gauge layout

Excellent article in CTT, John, but I was rather hoping to see the elfin handcar in motion on that impressive mountain spiral! How do you reverse it at either end of its run? Do you adjust the track voltage on the downhill half of the run?

WOW !! Great Job I would love to see the Track layout of how you got from the top of the mountain back to the bottom.

One word sums it up; Beautiful

Really enjoyed reading the article and watching the video. I met Roger F. at the Toy Train Museum in Strasburg. He has some great ideas. Thanks.

Roger Carp said that this is the 31960 Lionel Polar Express set. Can’t be!!!The train I see in the picture is a scale (STD O) version. The 31960 set comes with the " baby Berkshire" an traditional sized passenger cars.

I wanted to see the train go all the way up. What does it do go partially up then the handcart takes over? Never saw that in the video. That is great. Wonderful and creative ideas.

Really swell layout… I would have liked more… install one of those tiny cameras on the Polar Express and show how the train winds around and through the mountain… or show the POV for the elevated trains
