Hasn’t Athearn gone a little too far?
Athearn hasn’t gone far enough. When I bought my John Deere riding mower, I got a free John Deere hat.
Not to mention a piece of equipment that does a good job of cutting grass. Can the Big Boy do that? [swg]

In my opinion, they’ve gone too far. But, market demands drive the products and there are many people that will purchase anything as long as it’s painted John Deere green and yellow.

That is a little too much but I’m sure it was done in small quantities and next year they will be SELLING on Ebay for over 1000 bucks, lol.

I don’t see where they have gone too far. There are a lot of folks who collect the John Deere stuff just like others must have Coca Cola collectibles. I would never personally purchase one, but to each their own.
If you collect J D probably not, but if you have any RR sense, who would paint the boiler & other mechanical parts green? Even in the 1880’s they didn’t go that far!![xx(]
I will say this, by tractor-crazy 7 year old son wold LOVE that. Too bad dad won’t pop $400+ to get it.

You could paint rocks green and stick a John Deere logo on it, and the collectors would buy them!
Understand that this model runs great! No pick-up problems, cracked gears, or other compaints. After all, “Nothing runs like a Deere!” [}:)][:D][:D]
What is the difference between this and a Nickel Plate PB1? Both are just fantasy, but there seem to be a lot of both around.

Didnt Southern paint their Steam Locos green, anyway, as for athearn going to far, they may have, I also remember B&O DD40X’s that were made by athearn.

The Southern is noted for having some of the most colorful steam locomotives around. A beutuful shade of glossy Pine Green.

While on a visit to South Carolina I saw a John Deer store and went in. Folks like the merchandise and the store and packed with people buying it. Guess if it sells, make it. Folks are buying trains!
I have seen one. $500 was what the guy offered me as his sale price.
Supposedly John Deere based they’re Yellow and Green colors on CNW passenger cars. So that would elimate John Deere Yellow and green and make it CNW yellow and green on those Tractors[;)]
