And NS wants to repaint all of the ex-conrails sigh…
As csx and NS have proven bigger is not always better.

It shouldn’t have happened. I think Conrail was a neat railroad and I liked their blue paint scheme a lot.

They must have plenty of gallons of black paint over at NS and grey at CSX…otherwise they would have left a perfectly good railroad to make money and move freight with the best of them.
There you go - Conrail was making money - no better reason to take it over…
Not to break up the party folks but conrail was a major part of this countrys past history.
I remember the past,and to this day I will never forget.
Conrail meant alot to me ingeneral, because Im from the east.
I must agree that Conrail did what it did to try to keep the vast past alive and well to this day.
I will always remember the great eastern name…“CONRAIL”.

Speaking of Conrail, theres a pretty good 2 and a half pages in the latest issue (July) that talks about NS and CSX working together on shared assets of Conrail. Quite interesting.
But I agree, with everyone else. What happened to Conrail should have never happened.
I was just reading that article yesterday.
Apparently things are running much more efficiently now.
