Had a crazy time last night, Katie’s car had front wheel bearing go out, so they came out with Dan’s old jeep left it here and picked up the Ranger, car hauler and Sandra’s car.
The plan is that they will haul the dead car out here on the trailer and we will fix it on Saturday. So we are down to my Silverado.
62 heading to 78 with full sun. I could use some rain. I cut down a huge honeysuckle bush and ground out the stump last Monday and put down grass seed. It could use some water.
Waiting on a phone call to get my medicare enrollment stuff done.
Rich, Sorry about the GF thing. My dad used to say something I can’t print and looking back I think he was right. [(-D]
Happy June - summer begins! [8D]
SJ - thanks for the donuts!
Kev - Anj - yep - my old man would comment similarly…[:-^]
I have my Medicare file going - can apply July 1 - never thought I would be looking forward to that - always had good, reasonable cost, heathcare until recent years…
Good morning all,
Rare mid-morning post just to get a post toward the sharp end of the grid. Weather is fine and work is quiet. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Mornin’ Fellas
Been very, very busy!
We had our last Daisy Troop meeting last night. I will say being one of their troop leaders was very rewarding and I will miss my girls immensely this Summer! They have all grown to be respectful, intelligent, caring, young ladies. The other leader and I were impressed that they had all learned the words to The Girl Scout Oath and were able to recite it without leadership last night. [tup]
Christina has her last soccer game on Saturday, followed by a tournament on Sunday. Gotta get her signed up for Fall. I was informed last night that she is better at soccer than me. [:-^] We’ll let her keep thinking that for a few more years, then Daddy will show her how it is done. [;)]
Matthew is growing up… much faster than I would like. Still have some behavior issues at school to work through (old daycare was terrible at correcting behavior and he is a bit disruptive during instruction time) SO wish we had moved him 3 years ago!
Christina gave her last presentation at school yesterday (yes they are doing presentations in Kindergarten now), they had to choose a subject related to farming. She chose to talk about tractors. So we went through our pictures and found 7 related to various aspects of tractor use on a farm. Apparently she was the first kid to choose a topic other than a farm animal, so ALL of the kids were very interested in what she had to say! She tied it all into our family farm in Alabama.
Sister and Brother-in-Law are coming tomorrow to watch the kids on Saturday while TheQ and I attend a wedding in DC. Can’t wait to spend some quality time with TheQ, it has been far too long!
Got the tickets for Hershey Park. Taking the kids for Christina’s 6th birthday in July or August (I know her birth month, but we may have to go early due to TheQ’s work schedule). Can’t believe she is almost done with school and will be 6!
Well gotta run… work is calling.
Good afternoon from beautiful sunny 79°F Southern Ohio,
We got the keys to the new house last night. The three kids were with us for the final walkthrough and they were excited. Gabriel was able to walk to the house after basketball practice it is that close to school. We’ve got our Honey do list started and it is rapidly growing. I’m taking next week off to do the things we need to do before the movers show up.
A Marx New York Central set arrived day before yesterday from an ebay auction and I’ve not had time to open the box we’re that busy. Totally unacceptable![:-^]
On the critter front, the two New Zealand’s gave birth over the past two days, one had 8 and the other 10. Of those three from each litter will go the fair in August and the others to the freezer.[dinner] Of the Netherland Dwarf does, hopefully we can trade one of their offspring for a New Zealand Buck. We’ve go a spot picked out for the rabbit cages next to the garage at the new house.
May God bless
Jim
Well it is over with Roy. 2 hours + on the phone and my ear was on fire. I am now a old guy.
Ended up with BCBS plan F medigap, Met Life option 1 for dental, Humana Wallmart part D for drugs and VSP for vision. About $2,500 a year for it all and can get up to 3K back from Cat as I spend it. Should work. [B)] Set up a medical only checking account to work it all in one place.
Just got the tax bill on the place and nice to see it did not go up $350.00 this year. [Y]
Got this picture the other day of the grand son from my daughter. She said, He said he p@@ps better if he reads his train book!!!
Got to love it. [(-D]
FIRST PAGE??? HOW DID I SCORE THIS??? lol!!
Thanks for the support, guys, yeah, I believe I’m thinking the same thing…lol
Brent enjoy 'em while they are young, I’m so happy I brought mine home, she is such a joy, even at 25!!
The sun finally broke through, first time since Saturday morning and took a nap n the car, since I work so much. Love the warm weather, jusr wish I didn’t work so much, I’d take the bike in…
Other than that, life is good and I love the drama free life!!
Other than working on the cars on Saturday, we’ll see what adventures the weekend holds.
SummerNationals at E-town NEXT weekend, may be on the fire truck for fire/rescue at the event, which would be soooo coooollll!!!
Kev,
Didn’t you have to pick an administrator for Parts A & B? I have also been purusing BCBS as I had them in the past and was pleased with their support. Still trying to understand the part F stuff.
Btw - did you even look at Part C which is the HMO version and it is claimed 33% are now on Part C. Ran into a guy a few weeks ago that was quite happy with it but could not explain how it was different from normal A & B.
Roy, I went with part F because it has the most complete coverage and does not cost that much more. No co-pays or deductibles BCBS picks up whatever medicare does not pay. I can use my medicare card and F plan anyplace that takes medicare. Un-like Part C that replaces medicare with an HMO that only works where they want you. You use their ins card just as you would with a work Ins card. Also by getting the F plan now when I am well I can’t ever be subject to underwriting as it would be if I got a lesser plan now then got sick and tried to get a better plan and it would be at a much higher price.
There is a lot to consider. Don’t want to save a dime then have to spend a buck to fix it later.
PM me if you want to. I have learned a lot this last few months.
Kev,
Thanks. Your Part F comment - go big now, hard to upgrade later - is one of the more valuable comments I have received.
Headed out for nephews grad party. Will try to pm you later. thanks!
Roy I called and talked with a agent from the company that AARP suports and because wife basically won’t go to a doctor I was suggested part N. Which is cheaper than either the others you all mentioned
Just keep in mind it is not about “you” when you talk to a supplier. It is about them. Why you need to do your own homework.
Good evening all,
Interesting conversation on Medicare as I will be going down that road in a few years. Pirates of the Caribbean was surprisingly good, better than the reviews. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
RT - you have to be careful. The issue is not whether your wife or anyone likes or does not like going to a doc (and goes as little as possible). As you well know at our age there will be a point where you will be unexpectedly forced into a hospital and when that happens you may wish you had a better plan.
To say what Kev said a different way, Medicare is a big boondoggle to insurance companies. They are essentially guaranteed to get paid. That is why everyone and his dog is in the Medicare game.
BTW - to prove the point - like Kev I have never seen so many companies offering Medicare plans (about 40 so far - I have been keeping a file since I started getting these fliers last year - most from the most obscure companies - never trust a company called Integrity Insurance that you only hear about for the first time when you are 64 yrs old) - and yet in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) there are only 2 companies left in Texas - and of the 2 - BCBS (the other company is very obscure) only offers an HMO and have stopped issuing individual PPO policies (ACA or not) altogether. It is very difficult to get an individual health insurance policy in TX. My healthy 26 yr old daughter tried to get an ACA plan - the subsidized cost was over $350 per month. Someone making $35k a year cannot afford $4,000 per year for health insurance (with a huge deductible). With the help of a trusted ins agent we had to assemble an old school basic major medical plan with a rider to make it ACA compliant - less than $200 per month and huge deductible.
Kevin I know they make the big bank off of anything the support. Thats why I’m still looking at plan F. As Roy said I have to look at other things also. What I don’t understand is why they have to have your zipcode, is it different coverage where you live?
RT - yes they need your zip code. Health care costs vary based on your location. It is not a “coverage” issue.
Mornin’ boys. Sunny & 56 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Back on the train for the next 3, then maybe a day or 2 at the shop early next week.
Wifey and I travelled to Danville, PA so she could get her pre-op testing done for the marrow transfusion. Met up with her brother and nephew there, and BIL looked good for all he’s been through. We’ll keep our fingers crossed. While in town, discovered a cajun style restaurant, Seidel’s. Very unassuming on the outside, but very nice on the inside, and the food was very good.
anjdevil - Too many damsels out there… Take this time to get your house to your liking. And enjoy the fuel savings on the bike (however, my money is on it being temporary). [;)]
88 - Was passing PSU and thought to myself, “Why don’t he [(-D] write…”
Another nice day here. Blue skys and sunshine. 69 heading to 84 and I have steaks for the grill tonight.
Life is good. [dinner]
I am on a Medicare Advantage plan and like it. I didn’t pay a cent for recient tests, angiogram and stent. Perscriptions are $5. I live in over 10 million LA county and I get the idea my priamary care doctor just does anualll checkups all day one after another on old people.
It does take awhile to get a apointment with him.
If something happens they will try to squeeze you in or get you a appointment with another doctor. And there is Urgent Care after 6: PM.
I have asked several people what hash tag # on Facebook means, no one has been able to explain it to me.
