June MR thoughts

I don’t know if it is just the great spring weather or the content of the June MR but I think it is the best I have seen in a long time. Almost every article has an interest for me. I thought that the bridges layout was O scasle, it is that well detailed. Another layout looks similar to my 4X8 with a couple of add ons that I might do in the future. Is it spring or is it as good as I fthink it is?

How do you guys get them so early?!?!?! I will love to respond when I get mine next week. [:D]

Ron

Yeah how do you get yours so early. I live maybe 5 miles away from Kalmbach and I dont get mine until the first week if not the second week of the month. I feel cheated maybe I should go to Kalmbach and pick mine up to save shipping cost for me and them.

I guess it is about time the Canadians got a break!

This came up in another thread. I think it’s pretty funny that blind bruce gets his copy in Winnipeg before we do in the states!! And, no, I don’t have my copy here in Ohio yet either.

Jim

I got mine in Toronto Monday or Tuesday. The arrival time may have something to do with cross border bulk shipping. Although the post office delivers it to my home, the mailing label comes from DHL. So I am guessing that DHL carries them to the post office distribution hubs

Robin

I don’t have mine yet. Maybe today [swg]

I see how it goes us in the states get messed wih by MR we should get th issues first we pay just the same and pay for shipping but we get the shaft.I am seriously thinking of canceling or not resubscibing cause of this. My local Walmart gets it before I do how does that sound?

You might be over reacting a bit. Just do what I do…read past issues over and over again. I’m actually had three issues come up missing last year. Sending out a replacement seems to take months. They always tell you to wait a bit longer maybe it got held up someplace.

I don’t think the delayed delivery in the US is MR’s fault. They probably ship new issues on the same day to all destinations. The problem is probably the US Postal Service bulk rate delivery: it goes by the cheapest (translation: slowest) transport method available to them. Our northern neighbors don’t appear to have delay problems due to the use of commercial delivery services to get the issues to their local post offices. UPS/FedEx/DHL ground shipment usually beats parcel post by several days to a week or more.

I just look at the early delivery reports from the Great White North as an early warning system that the issue is about to arrive! [:D]

US Postal bulk mail is handled by the post office as an “after you handle first class” task. This means bulk mail delivery times can be all over the map – great one time and s-l-o-w the next.

I’ve seen cases where items have been all bulk mailed at the same time and some guy clear across the country will get it in 4 days while some guy in the next town over won’t get it for two weeks. [swg]

I got mine today and I live in the mountains of Kentucky.

Dear readers,
Getting consistent delivery dates is a constant challenge for us. For the last several years we pay our printer to have the issues trucked to many different postal facilities across the country, so that all the issues enter the mail system at about the same time. Doing this gets us as close as we’ve ever been to having every customer get his or her magazine the same day, but we still see some variation.
Thanks for reading MR,
Terry

I don’t have a subscription at this time, but the Junes is already on the shelf here in Indiana at my local Wal-Mart where I usually get it!

Just to clarify a previous post regarding postal rates, the Canadian postage (mailing) fee is significantly more than domestic rates. Check it out on the subscription forms.

Mine arrives pretty consistently, a day or two after the earliest recipients based on this forum. My onlty problem was about ten years ago; I failed to recevie three consecutive issues. I went to my post office and lodged a very specific complaint and that was the end of the problem. I’m convinced that somebody in the PO was stupidly risking their job and a felony conviction by swiping my magazine.

I sometimes get mine before some of you, and I’m way over here!! <--------

Ken.

Wow, I guess I’m lucky compared to some of you guys. I get mine around the first day of each month. [:)]

-Brandon

Got mine today. Usually get it about this time every month.

We have just read a testimonal to the U.S. postal system. Try mailing two packages to the same address at the same time and see what happens. And we pay these people.
