June Trains has an article pertaining to the Cadiz RR. I know the author of the article, Stan White, who was President and General Manager of the short line prior to his retirement.
I took the photo of the forlorn number 8, and Alco S-1, as it looks today. It’s in Caidz near the interchange of I-24 and US-68.
My friend, Gus, has a neat HO model of #8 and I posted it in the MR Forum.

I replied to the MR thread, so might as well to this one as well. The photos are from one of Terry Kirkland’s vacation trips. I am not certain of the date. The Cadiz caboose is certainly noteworthy. Terry often sought out shortlines on his sojourns away from his native TEXAS.


I remember reading the Cadiz article in Trains when it first came out. I have always thought shortline stories are as interesting if not more interesting than big time railroading.
