Even tho they may be good as parts, maybe, they stilldon’t qualify as very good conditon.

Why not?

OK for Plasticville to even be considered very good it can’t be glued together and it certainly can’t be missing major parts and if it’s something cobbled together from several sets it’s at best good for parts or junk.

For a layout, if all is there & it’s glued together, what’s the diff. if it’s in decent shape.
It’s not for collectors.

Here is one for ya… If it is junk to you - don’t bid on it.

I know one thing I bet you that the factory ends up in the $15.00 to $25.00 catagory when done as that factory normaly sells for $30.00 to $40.00 when its has all major pieces. seeing the one piece on the roof is missing and the piece above the doors (not a big thing to most) it will sell for more thaqn you think. Being glued to a train collector doesn’t matter as much as it does to someone int the plastiville collectors club.

[2c] Old saying: “One man’s trash, another man’s treasure”. I have purchased a few items on E-Bay that were posted as “for parts” or “junk” and they were, indeed for me, “treasures”. I guess it’s how one looks at an item not what it or it’s condition is called.

Several old sayings come to mind:

“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

“Patience is a great virtue.”

“Something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.”

I like that Plasticville Factory, and yes they tend to be pricey. Then I found one still sealed in the box for $10.00. I got my dual motored A-A Golden State Alco’s for under $80, when they are fetching close to $200 (or more) curretnly on eBay.

So many of my trains started off as junk… I get teased about that a lot. I get pretty excited when I get a good junker that I wanted. My friends laugh and say they’ve never seen anyone get so happy over a piece of junk. I tell them that’s because they see it as it is and I see it as it soon will be.

I’m not trying to go too far off topic, but so many of my engines were either low-end units of little value or junkers. And today they run like champs, pull as well (and sometimes better) as more expensive so-called better locos, look great with added details and have never had to be sent out for service. And they didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Not bad for junk, huh?

well…considering they were junk to begin with, even when brand new, and they are still junk now, but in fine condition as junk goes… the description looks totally valid to me… [:-^]

Scot

I don’t mind junk .

Well O.K., because that’s all I run [:I]

I don’t get it. Both pieces have current bids of less than $10 and look pretty decent.

If I were at that stage in my layout to need them - I would certainly bid on them. Why not? To be superior is in one’s own mind and to come out in public makes you merely a higher end individual playing with toys that were originally intended for kids. I never let that thought sway far from my mind - ‘hey - I am collecting this crap because I like to play with it’. If for any other reason you are part of the miserable train guys group.
