Junker 225e almost ready for paint

Almost done with bodywork on my junk box 225e. Reapaired casting with JB Weld and ready to finish sanding for paint. Has anyone painted a prewar shell with off the shelf rattle can paint? Rust-Oleum satin looks close, but have seen prewar locos in flat also at train shows. Not planning on painting the cast iron tender. Lettering looks good.

Figuring dusting over repairs and blending so it still looks original.

Any suggestions on paint sheen?

Also, any suggestions or tips on how to post pictures? If I hit insert image, it asks size, etc. Yahoo mail or outlook just grabs the picture and posts it. What am I doing wrong?

thanks

I like satin finish paint.

You need a hosting site like shutterfly to post pics

Others here seem to prefer Rustoleum, but my preference has been Krylon ultramaxx primer, with Satin black Krylon. I have never, repeat never had an issue with Krylon. I Have had issues with Rustoleum refusing to dry. It’s your choice in the long run. Just my 2 cents.

lack

For what it’s worth I used Rustoleum black barbecue finish paint when I restored a nasty PRR lantern. Tough stuff, and it has a nice semi-gloss finish.

Haven’t done a Lionel with it yet, but I just might one of these days.

Krylon Satin is the closest to the original paint I’ve found.
