I saw this on the back page of the latest Walthers flyer. I really love the paint scheme but doubt that it ever existed. Can anyone either confirm or deny it’s existence?

Not the best photo in the world, but it looks like the answer is yes, they did exist.

Yes,The C&O did infact paint F units in the “Bow wave” scheme.
COOL! Kind of reminds me of the CSX paint colors. I’d love to see one of those AB units running on my layout!
Just a for fun fact…[tup]
None of the C&O/B&O F units would make it into the Chessie era paint scheme.Few made it into the Chessie era but,was soon retired…

I’ve found these that survived long enough to get a CSX make over.
The CSX Business units was Ex Clinchfield F units…Not C&O or B&O F units.
Clinchfield Railroad FP7 #118 and F7 #116 and B-Units 117 and 119
Well…We just won’t tell the little people that live on my layout that info…[;)]
The yellow on the model is curved…but the yellow on the prototype is straight…I think…or am I seeing things??

It looks pretty curved in this shot.
Larry probably knows about this, being a C&O man, but this is just slightly OT trivial info. When I first got into trains in the late 70’s, I literally devoured MR (especially in middle school study halls, so stuff I read then over & over again stuck with me over the years, so bear with me-I’ve mentioned that before).
But anyways, there was an article in Paint Shop (early 78?) about experimental paint schemes. One was an either a C&O F or an E unit that was done black & white with the nose in a zebra safety pattern. There was a small b/w pic as I recall.
There was other neat ones, but don’t wanna get OT. just a tidbit of info to pass along.
HUH???
Whoa up guys…The C&O F units was painted 3 ways.
With the “bow wave”:

Without:

And the last scheme with the big C&O:

Mitch,Indeed there was F units and Geeps painted in the “Zebra Stripe” scheme…This was in the early 60s.According to the railfan rumor mill of that day the Santa Fe and C&O was merging…That of course was not true.

That’s her ok…
Yep-sure is. I thought they just did one though. Oh well, I learned something new today.
