On Sunday, my family and I went to see Superman. My wife, myself, and the little 6 year old sidekick. My son has become quite the little train guy and has definatly caught the train bug from dad. As most of you know, Superman features a pretty impressive train layout. Of course, we all got a kick out of it and most likley enjoyed more than most. Well, my son started to figure out that they layout was going to get trashed and "bad things were going to happen to the trains"as the water started to bubble, and the crystal grew, music got louder and such. Right before things go boom, he taps me on the arm and leans up to my ear and says…
“Dad, dont worry. This part might make you sad, but you should close your eyes and I will tell you when its over.”
I saw the movie with a bunch of friends and they all turned and looked at me when they first saw the layout in the movie. I guess they all know who the “train guy” is.
When I saw it with my family, they all were in ahhh and said “cool layout” and “hey Nataraj, you have a layout like that right?” LOL. All I could say was " yeah, sort of…" hahahhahahahaha. : )
That was a neat layout in that movie.[:D] It’s a shame they went and destroyed it. There were probably thousands of dollars worth of Lionel trains on there.
I thought the whole movie was very good.[:D] One thing I like is that they kept the swearing out[tup], unlike most movies these days.
You have taught him well Canazar; very well. Maybe one day he’ll truly understand how much that meant to you when he is a father and has a son who does the same thing.[;)]
Actually not Lionels. After seeing the movie I came home and started searching the internet. Seems it’s all donated Marklins. Three scales to force perspective. Can’t remember the sites but there is some interesting trivia out there. Some scences on the layout featured scenes from other Brian Singer movies and the Mt. Rushmore part was built for Eva Marie Saint (Kent’s mom) as hommage to her role in North By Northwest
That is a great story… sounds like a lil’ model railroader in training. My 3 year old (a big Thomas the Tank engine fan) calls my layout “Papa’s Island of Sodor”… [:o)] gotta love their perspective!
Thank you for that JWAR. That was nice of you. He is my step son techincally an I dont know if he will stay with trains… but for the time being, we have found it to be a great way to connect and I plan on running with it. I am tryign to build a good foundation for us for the future. So far so good[:)] I think. Thanks TrainFreak, TrainFan for the kind words
