I see many people think I have nothing but problems with keeping my engines on the rails. I do post when there is a problem. So I understand why folks think I have nothing but problems. To combat folks from thinking I have nothing but problems I decide to post when there are no problems!
Lets see in the last 40 hours of run time, Hudson did pick a turnout that was not closed right. Hum, have spiders that like my trees, is that a problem?
Yep all is good on the bench. Big Boy dragging 30 cars, M1a doing 25 cars AC 6000 sound great.
Here is my new toy.
Yep another Big engine, PCM Y6b with sound. Still like the looks of a Big Boy better but still looks good.
Will up date ever 40 hours of run time so folks will know I have great fun and not nothing but problems.
No prblems again but some will crop up again Cuda Ken
Nice new TOY there. And the best part is that you have a layout on which to play with it. So, do you have anything with less than 12 wheels or so, you know for switching or something? Just curious. BTW, I have a few N scale articulateds and only require a layout before the day when I can enjoy running them. But they will never have all that wonderful sound yours do. Enjoy that new addition to your BIG family!
Those are wonderful engines. I got a second one this Monday and they are just exquisite. The one I got since before is my most perfectly running steamer. And from the front they look brutish.
Right on Cuda. I have been following your adventures with the AC6000. I am hopeing maybe Santa can bring a undecorated one for my Kiva Valley. Nice to read the good progress.
I have to admit, your posts are much for fun when your engines are misbehaving. I take sick joy in reading about it as I know that I am not alone…!
Canazar, have you happen to see my Big Boy posting you answered is down to 3 replys? Seems odd why they would pull the answers.
Looking forward to the Y6b and with luck Canazar I will have problems for your enjoyment.[:D]
I am sure it will be kick butt! I will be sending the PCM Big Boy back to BLI to fix the front lights and smoke after I get the Y6b. Got to have a problem right?
Little up date. My bench is all DCC now, 18" turns are laying on tool box. On the A line, my Heavy Mike, and M1A donot like 1 turn out and I will look into that later. Hudson does not like a bridge but will make it over at slower speeds. Class J and Big Boy running great on the A line. My GE AC 6000 Blue Line all so like the A line as well.
New Plans for the 5’ X 9.5’ that is waiting for track.
It is a O gauge plain and will need some work but think I might be able to figuer it out. The bench in the PIC is smaller than my new section.
Will take the plains to K-10 Trains and have Ken looking at them. May not have the room for the grade to make 7". Hope to keep the grade at no more than 2.5%
Cuda, the elavation could be just 3" above the next level, as long as you don’t plan to run Tri-Level autoracks and double stack well cars. I can fit superliners under my bridge which is 3" above the main. I don’t get why I still have those superliners though…
Well it is only fair if I post about no problems I post when there are problems. When I got home tonight the power was out. I was listening to Cards game on the way home never saw all the homes where dark. Sure not the fault of the layout. Got some candles out, battery power radio and weathered some coal cars by candle light and listen to the game! [:D] Must say I still enjoyed my self.
Now for the bad part, power came on. Last night I did some wood working on the new section, cutting and sanding. Used the shop vac to clean the rails. Seems saw dust loves HO track and it is a one way love afair. Stall after stall after stall. Still have not made it around with BL BLI GE AC 6000 with out a stall. It is RIP till I get to clean the wheels. On the A line for some reason the Class J is spinning the wheels on my grade that I have cleaned and shop vac’ed and now derails in a section (on the back wall that is 4’ away) that had not been a problem! Plus while I was shop vacing that section I tore out a bridge in the cross over track from the A line to the B line with the hose! [:(!]
But there may be a bright side (pause). Yep there is a bright side, my BLI Hudson is now pulling 32 coal cars on the B line. Reason this is a little bite of a big deal to me? When I first got it it would not stay on the rails and could not pull over 10 cars if that. Finaly the POS copper spring for the front truck broke, best thing that has happned to it.
Added some lead to the front truck and tracks great!
Is there such thing as the wheels breaking in? Reason I ask like I said the Hudson could not pull over 10 cars and they where easy rollers. BLI Heavy Mike same thing
