Just an FYI about Fast Tracks #6 Jig & Walthers Shinohara Code 83 Rails

The rails don’t fit in the jig.I checked a number of pieces with my calipers and they are larger at the base than the Micro Engineering rails.

Micro Engineering Code 83 Rails work fine.

They will make the jigs for whatever rail you want. They have samples of most common brands to get measurements, but if you have say a thousand foot bundle of Acme Brand Code 75 you want ot use, you just need to send along a sample.

I had mine made for Atlas Code 83 rail so I have no issues joining up to Atlas flex or other parts.

That’s good to know. I bought mine second-hand to give myself a chance to try it out before plunking down a huge wad of cash.

That’s another really good FYI! [:)] Before buying a 2nd hand one make sure what rail it is for! How many people would have thought of that? (I wouldn’t [8)])

Thanks! [^]

Well, I certainly didn’t know to ask and the guy I bought it from either didn’t know or didn’t think to tell me. But fortunately I do have a huge wad of ME code 83 rails and plan to be getting more, so my story will end happily. I think once I get the hang of building them, doing some from scratch won’t be too difficult. Also I’m planning to build some Central Valley turnouts (a la “Joe Fugate” style) and can use the Shinohara rails for that.

Don’t forget to send positive feedback to the seller. Otherwise, they don’t really know if you got it safe and sound, although it sounds like you did.
