GO to bachmanntrains.com to the parts and service section, and email to ask. There repair departmetn used to be stellar in performance, even on old out of production models.
As I understand it, it used to be anyway, “even if you worked on it first”, they would either repair it or replace it. Mind you if they DO repair it, it will surely come back with an “original decoder” in it again.
Check with them before sending it in. becasue you “worked on it first” they may charge you what used to be a $25 fee to repair/replace evaluate it.
That is one reason I leave well enough alone for a while on Any new purchase {trains, tools, otherwise things} for the time being to see if it needs to go back or be replaced if it is faulty. That way I have not “voided any warrantee”.
If they won’t take it back as it is now, you may be stuck with it as is, but that might be considered half your fault.
Check and see is all I can tell you. Never hurts to ask.
Had to send the 2-6-6-2 into Bachmann for repairs. Seems like I have bad luck with steam locomotives when the wheels are out of gauge. I try to pull them into gauge, and they get out of quarter, wobbly, etc. It stinks.
Turnaround time for the Bachmann repair service is typically about two weeks, so I hope to have it back by August 9th in time for the Tampa train show.
I sent in the Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-6-2 in for repair, and they told me that they could not repair it even though they had the front and rear driver trucks for separate sale. Oh well. They sent me a 2-10-2, which I’ll give to my manager and he’ll give me cash for a new 2-6-6-2.
Just got the new one, and it runs very well, albeit a tiny bit louder than the other one. I’ll live with it until I get a sound decoder for it.
