Just bought an older Bachmann Spectrum 4-6-2 K4 Pacific for my son

Yeah I do not have power pickups on the tender. Just the leading trucks, driving wheels, and trailing trucks. I took apart the loco and verified it with my own eyes.

So what I’m going to do is to cut off the four pin connector and the two pin connector, and solder wires going to the back of the loco that connect the trailing truck wire pickups to the tender pickups.

In the picture below, you can see the tab at the rear of the split metal frame that the trailing trucks have wires connected to them.

You can actually see the wire that is going to the trailing truck too in that picture.

The fourth picture is even better, where it shows the wires going to the leading and trailing trucks,

Walthers lists that loco. #5425, as a “K4 Classic”, whatever that is.

I thought you had PRR #1361.

Rich

I do. An older model. It says 1361 on the side.

YES! I’m on fire! Someone get me a cookie!

At at the time the K4 model was first produced in the late eighties, 1361 had recently been restored to service after being on display at Horseshoe Curve for many years, and was in active railfan use. 1361 as modelled shows a late version of the K4 with the solid pilot. Spectrum has also offered an early version with an open pilot, which I assume is what the “K4 Classic” is??

The motor and electrical system is all new with the newer version.

And while you eat your cookie I’ll run get a fire extinguisher since you’re on fire.[:O][(-D]

I know,I know, there’s always gotta be a wanna be comedian in the crowd.
