I might be (ok, I’m absolutely CONVINCED that I really AM) going out on a limb here, but would anyone be interested in “owning” a business on my train layout? There are just SO many things available that I could literally offer a “business” to everyone I know and STILL have a lot left over. All that’s really necessary is providing a business name and type, and I will handle the rest! Eventually I hope to enable “billing” services (so your business can make money), but that’s all being worked out still.
Just to clarify, and for example…
You own the Anytown Steel Mill. You receive ore from the Othertown Ore Mine with daily deliveries via CP Rail. Your major customer is the Sometown Auto Plant. As the owner of Anytown Steel, you would order your ore from the mine, see that it gets formed into steel, and deliver the steel to the Auto plant. You will eventually be able to bill the auto plant directly, but for now (until the billing system gets completely worked out) I will take care of the billing for you. You still get to set your product rates and everything else (always will) and other decisions like those.
As an added bonus, you’re free to choose your business type and, if desired, name.
Right - everything is simulated, and there’s no cost involved (except in rare cases, like if you wanted a rare building kit or something). Otherwise, the money you see referenced is all virtual

Might be an interesting project. Of course you sight the example of an iron ore & steel mil industries
& the 1st response u get is from an DM&IR fan in iron ore country.
(LOL)
of course maybe I can throw in some scrap metal.

I once modeled one on a layout. It had a 40’ tower with a few antennaes made with brass wire and a couple 16’ satellite dishes. I even strung silver string on the poles below the power lines. That didn’t last long thoug as every time I snagged the string 5-6 poles would break off.
