Just dropped in...

I just dropped by to say “Hi!” Hope all of our old friends are well. I can’t find the coffee…[C]

Good to see you, Rick. I was just thinking about you the other day (and a lot of other forum denizens that I haven’t seen in awhile). How are you doing?

Hi Ricky, Chris,

It’s been quite a while since I have been in here myself. It’s nice to see you guys are still around. Hope all is well with you both.

Hello Rick! Are you back to stay for awhile?

Speaking of members I haven’t seen and was thinking about! Nice to see you, Chad!

I would really love to know more about the D60 incident. How did it end up on the bottom of a lake??? And did you have to send it to Canon for repair, or did it just keep going after that???

I’m half a Canon shooter again. Still have the whole Pentax kit, but the K-5 has been out for repairs for 6 weeks now. I’ve kind of gotten frustrated over the whole thing, so it’s been hard for me to pick up my back-up Pentax body and shoot with it. I had bought a Canon 5D specifically for use with tilt shift lenses. After the K-5 problems, though, I decided to grab a couple of general use lenses for it and have been shooting with it almost exclusively lately. Only part of it is the Pentax frustration anymore, though. I think I’ve gotten hooked on this whole Full Frame thing…

Good to see you too Chris,

Well I was driving down the highway in northern Ca. when a heard of deer ran out in front of me. I tried to swerve around them and lost control in the soft sholder. I went off the road right where the water crossed under the road (what are the odds?) and landed upside-down in the water. It was late at night and all my stuff (camera bag, laptop bag, cell phone, 2 guns, scanner, radar detecter, XM reciever, tools, ect.) stayed the night at the bottom with the car, a Jeep Grand Cherokee I had just bought a few months before.I’m still not sure how I managed to get out virtualy without a scratch and walk away. The doors were pinned shut by mud and only the wheels stuck up out of the water. After a good hard upside-down landing I had to get out of my seat belt and kick out the side window as the car was quickly filling up with water. Then I had to walk a couple miles soaking wet in 30 degree weather.(yes, I did feel the hand of God that night)

The next day I got the car towed out and fished all my stuff out of the water. I figured all was a total loss, but amazingly after much time disassembling and drying out everything I got most of it fixed. I couldn’t get the scanner fixed but I have 2 others so I didn’t try very hard. Amazingly I was able to fix the camera and even got my laptop going again!!! although I need a new fan and CD drive for it. I also got the Canon running and have been using it, but it and all the lenses need to be sent in to be professionaly cleaned because of the silt that got all inside the lenses.

Not only that but after spending a couple days cleaning and drying out the Jeep (that was 75% submerged) there wasn’t much damage considering. I need a new front winshield, side mirror and roof rack, and the side window that I had to kick out to escape. The water apparently coushioned to landing and there was very little body damage. The tow truck driver did more damage rolling it ou

Welcome back, Rick! Good to know you’re still out there.

Long time no see, Rick.

Sticking around for a while I hope…

Rick I hope all is well with you. Rich

I’ve been checking in and reading some posts every couple of months. I just haven’t taken time to post. I may be partial but; I still look forward to seeing the oldtimers’ posts in here. Still go for the wisdom and compassion I supose. Haven’t read any personal stuff of my old friends however; I pray you are all being blessed. We need another Dectective Cinderdick story in here! Don’t hold your breath waiting for that next story…not much flavor left, only vanilla.

Don’t remind me![:-^]
