i’m regaining the interest in model railroading i had when i was a kid/early teens, and am interested in starting to build a collection of locomotives and rolling stock. while i currently have no room for a layout, i can collect equipment and run it with one of the local clubs. my interest is the Chicago Rock Island & Pacific circa 1950, just before they dropped steam from their roster. i’ve been looking at the Bachmann spectrum 4-8-2 heavy mountain as one of my first locomotive purchases, i understand their quality and level of detail has greatly improved from the train set type stuff i remember. i already have a microscale decal set for them, and i see trainworld has them on sale for $99. this is the problem with living in Canada and modeling a less popular American line, mail order is your friend.
If you tell us the scale you’re talking about we might be more helpful.
I’ve heard good things about the new Bmann Spectrum heavy mountain in N scale, but I think they have an HO one as well. Don’t know anything about that one.
oh sorry. HO scale it will be.
