Just got my frist Williams anything. [two Dash 9 NS and a NS box car]

Got to go put down a test track to see these things run. Heavy “suckers”. Got the box car by joining the Williams club. Right off the bat, I see nothing wrong with a Williams product. Right now, I think I’m sold on their products. Operating question. If you operate both engines together, do you have to wire both to the same “reversing unit”? I have three Lionel GP35’s wired to one E Unit to prevent the old “getting one out of sequence thing”. Once you get them on the track, no big deal but is a little awkward to handle. Will pull the world. Think the Williams product is actually better looking than some of my older Lionel units. Right now, I’m smiles. Bet this gets me to get that full room layout built. [:D]

Hi Chief, how are the logos on your engines? On every Williams NS engine I’ve personally seen, Williams for some reason “squishes” the Norfolk Southern type logo. I wondered if this was possibly an early version of the NS logo. I’ve looked over NS photo websites and have yet to see a photo of any NS unit with the “squished” logo that Williams uses on all their Norfolk Southern issues.

That’s the one thing that’s kept me from purchasing more Williams product. I like that they make several NS engines in my size range, including the GP-9, Centercab and NW-2 in NS. But I don’t want to have to repaint them just to get the logo correct.

Well, how does this look?

Here is the free box car.

What the heck did it do?

If I may help sir:

Did not work for you either.[;)]

Now Spankybird, this has me stumped. Been working for me since you got me trained. Now it does not. HUMMM

See Spankybird, it works. This one was taken with a different camera setting. ???

HI Chief,

The ones that I posted is from your first settings. I did this at work and I can see mine fine now that I am at home.

Remember to enter the thread by picking its name and not the jump to arrow. I have found that when I use the jump to arrow with dial-up, it doesn’t always show the photos.

Tom

Spankybird, what is jump arrow? OH, I have cable [Road Runner]. The only thing I can think I did different was from different camea settings. I think I always clicked on reply to topic and not used quick reply, like now. [old man can not remember ???]

I have not been able to post any images to the MTJ forum from Shutterfly at all today, so I thought it might be the SFly host…but it seems to work OK here. I did not use the Quick Reply and I first pasted the link, then manually added the start img syntax and manually added the closing img syntax…seems to work OK.

Those are SD80/90’s…

The NS runs by my wife’s work. I take the daughter to watch before we pick up momma. I will be getting one of the Williams NS soon. The little girl wants to see it on our railroad.

Hi Chief,
If you look at the main page of the form where the last person to answer a posting is, you will see a arrow pointing to the right. If you click on it, it will take you right to the last posting of the thread.

Hope this helps.

Well, I don’t use that arrow. Hey, I am jealous. Young African-American female was on plane from Atlanta to Orlando on Thursday. She had two black carry-on bags [one big and one average size] with NS=== Virginia Division in white on them.

Chief, you did just fine with the photos you sent to me, and thanks. Yep folks, answered my question - the NS logo is still being squished by Williams. Which is kind of funny in a way, because it is such a “complicated” paint job. Williams does such an outstanding job on so many other roads - with in some cases, pretty complicated production paint masks. Heck, I don’t even care if the diesels have the correct rivet count.

It’s a darn shame they can’t get the simple Norfolk Southern type logo correct. They probably do it all on computer… all they need to do is stretch out the one they have to the proper proportions. There’s 3 Williams locos I would like to own but just can’t bring to buy, only to have to repaint to the same exact thing again.

Oh well. Looks like Microscale will continue to have a few more decal sales to me.
