Just got my Polar Express in...

from Just Trains in Delaware…n actually arived a few weeks earlier then i expected…

Ive obviously got it up and running on my living room carpet already and for the price i paid for the set im pretty satisfied. Loco runs smooth and quiet and everythging glides around the track nicely.

Fast track seems to be good quality and smooth besides the fact that it is loud, but i like my trains loud and noisy!!! [:D]

one thing i noticed is a slow down of the engine at slower speeds in one of the corners. This is something i wasnt expecting on such a small track setup. Its not major, but enough for me to want to look for a rememdy… Any sugestions??

Looks like i got one of the good smoke units. As soon as i turned it on and got it running it started puffing away!. Most have had some fluid in it from the factory… The small living room was filled with smoke a few minutes later. [:)]

CW-80 seems to be performing without malfuntions so far… Time will tell…

One thing that bothers me a bit is the large gap between the loco and tender … A bit much if ya ask me. Anyone do anything to make this more apealing???

And the only other thing i can give a negative coment is the whistle…Ive got that high pitch ugly squeel in it… I remember ready that there was an easy fix for this though??

Well,. im going back to playing with it!

I’m thinking of ordering that set, Joe. I’m torn between buying the whole Polar Express set or just a Berkshire and tender with Railsounds. Both would cost approx. the same, but the PE set’s loco has no Railsounds. It does have the coaches, track, and a transformer though. As a dad with three little ones, I think I know which one is going to win out.

Good news! Appears as if the sets are on the way …

I ordered a set from InternetTrains several weeks ago, along with about 50 ft of extra FasTrak for a shelf operation. This operation will be in my basement HO trainroom and is for my grandkids to oogle over when they come to see Grandpa’s trains.

The backdrop I’m going to make will feature the night sky with the snow falling that appears in the Polar Express movie posters. In fact, I have a couple of those posters that will adorn the walls beneath the shelf, just for some flavor.

Thanx for the info!

It really seems like its a good set for the kids… Price is hard to beat, and the fast track is very simple for a kid to put to gether as long as they have a tiony bit of muscle to get the track snaped together…

Only things that may not be to great as far as kids playing with it is as mentioned before the whistle and the bell are very fragile… They wont stand up to being grabbed wrong by a child…expecialy the whistle… But im guessing when my Son is old enough to get up and rip it off that since its so small anyway i probaly wont even notice its gone [;)]

Hi-how much did you pay for the Polar express??
Did a search on e-bay–had more Polar Express than you could shake a stick at.
Was thinking about one myself.
Paid $350 for 8002 Berkie on e-bay-mint in box. {loco & tender}.[:)][:)]

I’ve seen them listed from just over to $200 and up, just make sure you are getting the real thing. If memory serves me correctly during the hi demand low supply period some shop was pedaling an infereior knock-off.

Hey,

Glad to see you got yours!

Chris

i got mine for $205 shipped to my door … i preordered from Just Trains… good people there! my CC wasnt even charged till the day right before it arived at my house!
