Been sitting here at my bench and computer going through the box of goodies I won off Ebay. It was 6 GP38 Atlas loco’s 2 older heavy diecast Bachmanns GP40’s and a host of scrap freightcars and passenger cars. All the locos run, but need a good cleaning, the Atlas are the older Roco drive and are all high hood units in the BN road, some railings missing, but I think I have some of these. And for the best deal yet, and I still cannot beleive it, I got all this stuff for $60 on one auction. Thats all I need is more parts to add to the parts.
The funny part was there was only a few bids on these Items. Just watched and older Atlas with the Roco drive go for more than $40 an hour before on ebay, I swear people just don’t look around enough. If you just count the engines that are Atlas, they cost me $10 each the rest was just thrown in. Shipping was onlt $10 for all the items to.
Sounds like the deals I usually score when I am out shopping.

I always put watches on big lot auctions, because you never now who may not see it or may have forgotten about it. Even if I don’t really run these much, I know I can get more than $10 each for them. You got to love it.
Are we talking about the Wholesale Lots section or something else? If so, I’m certainly an example of not looking around that much - but when I go there, it’s usually so sparse that I don’t go back frequently… e.g. at this moment there are like 19 items in the model railroad section there, and about half of those are not really MRR stuff…
Or, are we discussing something else…
yes, that’s about the only way to get a good deal on ebay is when it’s a lot of stuff- just one freight car is generally a rip-off because of at least $3 shipping. I have an Atlas FP7 w/ the ROCO drive it was made in Austria, mines the older version from the 1970’s (there was another run w/ a different drive in the late 1980’s) I wish mine had 2 flywheels, but it runs excellent for having just 1 flywheel. I got mine at the LHS for $26 new in box! after a few hours of running it’s almost silent, just a quiet rumble (which sounds quite good)
Just wait till the last few minutes.
if they say it’s rare, it isn’t, if they say it’s vintage, it isn’t
1964 he been looking for a deal
The thing is, a lot of people still haven’t recovered from Christmas, and aren’t throwing their money around like they would most other months of the year. I’ve noticed that trend for a couple of years now. I tried selling some stuff recently that would have normally gone for a good price, but didn’t sale at all… Kind of like putting a gold bar up for sale for $5.00, but if no one has the money to buy it, it don’t sale…
Glad to hear you got such a good deal. You caught it at a good time. Now can I barrow your lucky rabbit’s foot ?.
