How do you know it will not run in reverse if you don’t try it? If it runs forward, it should certainly run in reverse. Maybe the person who sold it had a defective power pack?
As a matter of fact I have. No locos lately, but I did buy three “old time” Atlas tank cars yesterday on ebay. I wish I could say I got a good deal on them. Oh well…
i have one too. Your’s is wierd because the engine doesn’t match the tender.
The SP Loco has a different # and the windowframes are red.
Check the orange plug with two wires. one wire might be missing. (happened on both of my wires, so mine doesn’t do squat, at the moment.
I had a few older pitman motors, and the carbon contacts had worn at a funny angle… the unit would get stuck when I tryed to run in reverse… I guess that same thing can happen if you only run in one direction but I bet its a rare occurrence!
Yeah, the SP one is out of production. (I have one :))
Back to what I was saying: The orange plugs. The one with two wires coming from it might be missing one wire. Solder that back in place and have some fun going backwards.
hey I just got this mixmatch engine and it runs in reverse just fine also has the red light in the fire box
guess that person had a bad pack
I was adding kadees and the front mount is a bit strange, so I just have one loose in the pocket as I cant seem to fit the spring in with it. maby one of the new type kadee with wiskers is the trick that works
seems like the trailing truck likes to jump off (may be my track)
all in all grat locomotive and looks like it won’t need a trip back to the factory
