It smokes more than an MTH steam engine on high. Guess that means it needs new rings or a new motor as it is a diesel. [:0][;)] Seems Lionel has done something about their smoke units. I’d be scared to do my mods on this one as the room could not stand the smoke. Also, outstanding detail. Looks like an Atlas as far as details. Railsounds 5.0 is something to behold. Very pleased.
Chief,
My Chessie GP 30 smokes me out of the room.
My first new engine in 30 years was an MTH BN GP-30 that I got on my birthday a couple months ago. Yes, it smokes a lot. It’s the first and only engine, so far, that has smoke and sound and I love the amount of smoke it puts out. I usually see diesels along my commute every day and I don’t think mine smokes any more than the real engines.
With diesels smoking like that, who needs side rods?!
Chief,
Maybe the smoke will hide you when the rest of your purchases arrive at the front door[B)][;)]. My latest purchases are arriving today, Friday, and sometime early next week. So, can I borrow your smoker? Anyway, congrats on the new purchase.
Dennis
Are you able to adjust the smoke output? Or, is it either on or off?
Regards,
John O
I got mine last Friday and, WOW, what a locomotive! I’m very pleased with it. Haven’t really loaded it up but it pulls 10 - 12 Std. O cars with ease. Very beautiful and just the right size for my 6 x 10-1/2 foot (plus yard) layout.
Would you believe 16 hopper cars full of coal [not plastic stuff] and lighted caboose. In fact, all my Lionel diesels and Atlas diesels will pull them without help. I usually run two or three lashed together to look more like real trains. Unbelievable details. Just got two Atlas N&W enignes [dirt cheap[:D]]. Great details, sounds and smoke.
