Carrie and I went to Richard Jones grr in Iowa City IA. Heres some cool railfanning shorts that i took after the meeting as the sun was going down. This is an in town back yard with MTH’s new challenger doing photo runbys.
Here it is heading through town past all the people .
OH, and this little display was really cool in an old dead tree.
So if your ever in eastern Iowa , give Richard a call. He’d love to show it to you.

Kevin, good point. but the people are glued down and many of the other photos had “stuff” in the back ground.

I think Kevin is having fun teasing you here. You being the big promoter of railfanning in our yards and all.[tup] BTW…my family is still talking about your place and can we have a fish pond too??? Visiting each other’s layouts are a great way to meet and get such awesome shots as these. I think the people look natural in the photos because the guy taking the pics. said “look at me…and smile”. “I just want the train in the backround!” See Kevin [;)] [:D]…Later eh…Brian.

Hey, i can handle almost anything. Did Kevin tell you I was honored to take his photo at the Denver convention? Great photo, it fits perfectly on my dart board. Problem is,I’m bad at darts…
I hope others who visit different GRRs post photos to share its the best way to go on layout tours.

Now i’m not that bad. You Ladies really bring warmth to the magizine. Unlike some of us guys who are rivet counters. I just think some of the staff should be more out in the public eye. Just like some of the staff from other companies that I have meet. Helps me to see that most all folks in this hobby do care. And when dealing with them VIA phone or e-mail with an issue, we can seperate the issue from the person. ( does that make since?)
OH, another PS I do run into folks who “feel” rejected after sending something in to the magizine and being turned down ,ONCE. I tell them to keep tring. I am amazed at how many folks hold it personally against the one who said ,sorry, no thanks. If they would think about all the info that goes in and out of your offices and what it takes to keep things going they would not be so upset.
I’ve often thought, what would I be doing if i had not tried to use the computer? How many people would I have missed out on in relationship to the hobby if I had just stopped after the first try.

Yes, Marty, your comment makes sense. It’s always nice to put a face with a name. Seeing people out in the industry not only give them credibility, it’s nice to see whose working on the product you’re buying. I enjoy meeting folks on the show floor. After answering dozens of emails and phone calls, it’s nice to meet actual live people and see what they are interested in.
