Just Updated two Beeps to Command Control by www.electricrr.com

I just updated two beeps to TMCC with a kit ($65 each) from www.electricrr.com. I did not add sound (I have a sound car for that). It was a no solder installation which is good because I am not fond of electrical work, especially soldering around expensive boards. I was nervous cutting wires off the existing reverse board, no turning back now! The instructions were very clear and the units are now working! The nice thing about beeps is I can always switch shells, I do not have to fork out the money to convert all my Beeps to command.

The beeps seem to stall less on switches as now I run the track at 18V and the lights are much brighter. I highly recomend this installation even if you are timid about electrical modifications (like me!). I think he also sells beeps with TMCC already installed for $100. If I had it to do over that is the route I would take.

Jim, thanks for the info. The video on the website really sells the product. Do you know if the BEEP TMCC kit works for the Lionel Docksider?

I am not sure about docksider, but if you send him an email he is very good about answering.

Good. I’ve upgraded GP9’s and old U36B’s with kits from Digital Dynamics. Buckeye, probably will work as I think the limiting factor is AMP draw from the motors. The small motors work well with them. DD has the mini boards too.

Buckeye, I read some posts a while ago regarding the docksider and putting a board in it to upgrade. First, they had problems getting into the engine, second, they did not have enough room to put it in. I have not personally opened up my dockside, so I can only go on hearsay.

The Docksiders can be upgraded but I can’t remember which boards are used. However, I believe the only thing that could not be included was the sound, insufficient room. [%-)]

Dr. John,

I had to go with an older version (Edition 5, published 1995 or 1996). I figure the prices might be a little off but I can update the ones I am interested in by watching ebay. Plus it should be good to keep me from way overpaying.
