Has anybody successfully taken apart one of these? I want to lay a pair of wires on the motor terminals for a future reverse light, but after every screw I can see is removed, and everything seperates from each other, the motor assm won’t come away from the main frame far enough to get to the motor terminals. It hangs on the wires, which appear to be very short.
It’s back together and waiting now for a second attempt. I know the chances are slim in finding somebody who has done this before, but I thought I thought it wiser to ask before blindly attempting again.

Bobby,
Have not gone as far as you, at least not intentionally. I have had them fall apart though. In fact, several of my K-line engines have had very lose screws. When I put them back together, I tighten the screw and then add a drop of clear nail polish over the screw to hold it in place. I had my porter running the layout and when the bottom screw in front of the boiler dropped out, the whole rod assembly fell apart too.

Thanks Dennis,
That same screw on mine had some red grub on the threads. I figured they put on locktite at the factory. That was the only screw that had it though.
