K-Line Switch question

So I’m going to be in the market for a few new switches and I’ve read here that the K-Line switches work better then the their Lionel counterparts (I’m talking 0-27 here) so I’ve started to dig around looking for them before they disappear.

One of the things I’m curious about can a block signal be hooked to the switch? I know the Lionel 0-27 stuff is missing the parts to be able to do this…

Also, why does Lionel & K-Line extend the straight track on their 042 switches? I don’t have a lot of straigh sections on my layout so ever little bit counts…

Thanks,

K

kopeck,

I don’t have an answer to your question but wanted to add a caution: I have K-line’s O27 switches (love them BTW). When I heard about K-Line going belly up I thought about ordering more but delayed. I tried last week at a few places, some of which deal with big distributors, and no one can seem to locate any.

Might make your question moot if none are available, huh?

Yeah, I just found the same thing out, just beacuse they list them doesn’t mean they’re in stock… I think I’m going to hold off now, this layout isn’t going to stay where it is forever so It’s probably in my best interest not to pour tons of money into 027…

Thanks,

K

kopeck,
I don’t know about K-Line switches and being able to buy any of them but have you given thought to going with either GarGraves or Ross Custom Switches?
All you need is adapter pins to mate the track, the height should be the same. One other differance is the track has black plastic ties instead of brown metal ties, also your frieght or passenger cars won’t get caught on the switch machine as it is low profile and looks more like minitures of the real thing.
