Kadee 100 ton trucks

Hi all,

Does anyone know if the ASF 100 ton roller bearing trucks are what I should install on my 60 foot flat cars. I am going to put caterpillars on them. (Not the squishy kind.)

Also, I have been only dealing with Intermountain for wheels sets. I really like em. How does Kadee wheels match up to Intermountain? Especially as far as wobble goes.

Thanks

As far as the correct trucks for the car go, I am not sure.

In regards to Kadee vs. Intermountain, I have recently changed from using Kadee wheels to Intermountain. I like the fact that the Intermountains have metal axles. All in all they seem like a better quality wheelset to me. The only downside is that you have a better selection of wheels with Kadee. As far as the “wobble” problem goes, I have not run into that with the Intermountain wheels as of yet. I have gotten a couple of Kadee wheels in the past with bent axles that caused a little wobble.

Yes I like the Intermountain metal axles. I was not sure if Kadee used a mix of metal and plastic. I once, way back when, bought some Athearn precision wheels and most of them had a bad wobble because the plastic axles were bent. I never bought them again.

Appearantly you know now that Kadee uses plastic axles. They are still good wheelsets in my opinion, but there are better out there. But as I stated before, Kadee does offer wheels that can’t be had elsewhere very easily.

I have had problems with wheelsets that do have metal axles, namely Jay Bee. A good 3 out of 10 were wobbly.

You know, I never even thought about Jay Bee. I will keep clear of there wheel sets.
