I’m new to model trains and am looking for help with switching out couplers on my Rivarossi HO L&N 1502 locomotive. I have switched out the couplers on most of my engines and rolling stock with Kadee #5 couplers. The 1502 is giving me problems, though. Anyone know of any knuckle couplers that are compatable with Kadees and will fit on my Rivarossi?
This particular Rivarossi has the coupller rivited to metal insert. It also has wire single loop spring running from the coupler to the base plate.
Have you looked into Mchenry couplers? They make many couplers just for AHM/ Rivarossi.
I have used them on many of my AHM/Rivarossi locomotives and passenger cars.

If you go to the Kadee website, they have a conversion section. One is just a list of the correct coupler to use. There is another section that has drawings of any modifications you need to do to your loco as well as the correct conversion coupler needed.
