Does any body know what coupler to use to replace BLI coupler’s with Kadee’s for diesel’s that just drop in without altering. I been searching on Kadee site, but can’t seem to find it.
Thanks, Jim

Which particular BLi units are you talking about? The few I have just used the #5 ( medium centerset)
Here is KaDee’s official conversion chart:

Not that for Broadway Limited, they suggest at the top of page 1 to use:
Models with Factory Knuckle Couplers are easily converted by using our
#148 or “scale” head #158 whiske r® Couplers . Always check the coupler heights with either our #205 or newer # 206 Coupler Height Gauge

All I find on Kadee’s chart for BLI diesels is to use #148 or #158. There’s your answer.
The #148 scale or the #158 whisker (no bronze spring required) which is the specs same as traditional #5 ( medium centerset) The only reason to use a different length shank is for fairly tight radius, (use long centerset), or the longer shank if plow interferance occurs from opposing trip pin/ glad hand. I believe the BLI SD40 w/ plow may have this issue as others w/ plow.
