Kadee G vs #1

I recently got a new Bachman 20.3 2-6-0 from Micro-Mark, and it seems to fit the bill for what I was looking for, which was mainly a train to run around the Christmas tree and to play with the grandkids with. The front has the typical Big Hauler coupler that sticks out on a really ugly bracket. The one on the front really don’t even need to work, at least not for my intended use.

I was thinking of replacing it with something more in scale , but not necessarily operating. Would the Kadee #1 couplers be smaller, would they work with the other Big Hauler couplers, and the Same question for the Kadee G couplers?

In my experience, Kadee couplers do not work well at all with Bachmann, so once you begin using Kadees you need to use them on everything.

To just run around the Christmas tree, I’d stick with the Bachmann couplers and perhaps remove the pilot truck coupler if it’s never going to be used.

The G scale work well b mann, just match the hight and all should be fine.

I put a kadee No1 into a Bachmann big hauler just for looks. They are much smaller than Bachmann’s own couplers.

As i recall, I just took the Kadee long shaft (820 or 920) and put it into the Bachmann pocket, using the same Bachmann screw.

Looks much better to me!
