It’s about time, although, that seems a bit pricey compared to #5’s which, by the way, I prefer.

That does sound a little high now that you mention it. You can buy a 4 pack for $3.95. Bulk price is $1.60/each.[%-)]I wonder if they mean 25 pair for $40?
I’d still pay it to not have to deal with those brass centering springs.

Yes, it’s for 25 pair, not 25 pieces.

Someone asked here almost a year ago why Kadee didn’t offer bulk packs of the #148 Whisker Coupler and Kadee answered that they didn’t have the production capacity to make them in bulk. Now that they can, maybe the prices will eventually come down. Walthers prices to the general public seem to always be full MSRP.

80 cents/each? I’m not gonna complain. I hope they come out with high and low offset heads in the non scale whiskers.

This shows bulk pack, 39.95, 25 pcs.

I picked one up today at the NMRA show in Dayton, Ohio for $34.95 .

OK, since your actually in possession of a pack, is it 25 pair or 25 pieces? I’m figuring KD’s site has it right.
Does anyone know if these work OK with the old style 3 hole draft gear boxes? I was wondering if the whisker springs stick in the 2 outboard mounting holes. I see KD only shows them with the new single hole draft gear box.

50 pieces/25 pair with the normal small plastic capsule of knuckle springs. They stuff them all in a standard bag like a pair of #5s would be packaged in. This is the #14 bulk pack.

Talk about a timely topic! I was just getting ready to see if the whiskers came in bulk packs. I haven’t been on the forum in a few days and there’s the answer to my question.

Thanks

Rick

Yes, they work in the old boxes. The whiskers do not get caught in the holes- they extend beyond that area. Unless you have a bunch of the old boxes around, the new box is so much better in appearance and operation.

The new box has a lid that snaps on. This feature alone is great for mounting couplers to certain cars and locos. The box is styrene and can be glued into place and then the coupler and lid drop in and snap on.

I use only the new 153 & 158 whisker scale couplers and they are flawless in operation.

The new box also still has a hole in the middle for screw mounting.
