This is one possible end result of what happens when unions tell the automobile manufacturers how to run the company. Everything gets built in Mexico where the low labor costs offset the transportation costs.
Other end results are government bailout and no repayment to the provider class taxpayer, as with Government Motors. Another is the UAW getting told to sit down and shut up or else by the Ford family. Something Henry Ford would never put up with. The union, that it.
By the way, this is not good news for Amtrak or any other provider class funded by the iron hand of government so-called high speed rail scheme. Economical purchase price automobiles translate into fewer passengers for Amtrak. Amtrak and so-called high speed rail supporters had better petition their congressional representatives to start legislation which will shut down KCS. Or at least severely handicap it like in the decades before Staggers.
Only because many Chrysler products are made in Mexico.
What about the KCS investment in Panama and the now enlarged canal? Admittedly this does not have anything to do with the KCS de M but it cetainly fits into the bigger picture of the overall KCS profitability.
Glad to know they received the award as they must have surely earned it.
