Kaslo Shops Locomotive Kits how are they?

Hello all,

As the title states how are Kaslo Shops kits, I’m considering the GF-50 or GF-60 (Canadian National) kit(s) in any event. How are they to build, anything in particular to watch for as far as construction, required parts in addition to the kit’s pieces? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have seen the very odd engine in brass with a price tag that makes a brass Big Boy look economical in comparison. One of the LHS’s has a couple at a price that is definately lower than ebay (once everything is added in-exchange,shipping,GST, Canada by the way).

Thanks

Andrew

I have 3 Kaslo produced units (all N scale). They are very nice but somewhat pricey tho quality does not come cheap. They are complete shell kits requiring a donor unit for the drive.

I am extremely pleased with the ones I have and in future may indeed buy more if they produce units I want.

I hope you are talking about the SD-50F and SD-60F.

Kaslo makes a great product, not complete, but great.

Thanks guys,

David you’re probably right with the locomotive designations I was going by memory (admittedly poor at the best of times)on the specific locos I’m thinking about buying/building.
