For those who have setup their ditch lights (SD70, C44-9W, SD80, etc) to function separately than the headlight, are you using surface mounted LEDs or did regular LEDs? I haven’t yet played around with surface mounted LEDs but I’m thinking of ordering a few and cutting down the light pipes.
The problem with the Kato ditchlights is the 90 degree bend that the light has to take. The result is very dim lights. I found the only solution is to remove the ditchlights and make my own with PLCC2 SMT LEDs.
If you want to use the light pipes, then you could heat shrink some leds to the pipes.
