I have been anxious to see Kato’s new release of the P42 in Phase IVb. I have not seen any online yet or at any of the hobby shops in my area? Have any of you guys on here purchased one yet and can provide pics. I so want to get one but I do have a Athearn Collectibles P42 with the new Amtrak logo and I had a sound decoder installed in it as well. Do you guys know of any notable difference between the Athearn and Kato versions beside kato offering theirs with their new motors?
Have not received mine yet, but check both YouTube and Kato’s website as they have released many pictures and several videos showing the actual locomotive. First reads are that the model is heavy and the new drive is very powerful but is lacking alot of fine details (mu hoses, wipers, etc). I too have a couple of the Athearn/Walthers P42 releases (one with sound) and am anxious (like others) to see how they compare.
