Kato and Tower 55

Hello All,

I searched the list but didn’t find and answer to this question: What to use to strip paint from Kato and Tower 55 models.

The 91% alchol and brake fluid had little effect on the Kato as the paint was simply faded after a week in an air tight container.

The Tower 55’s paint was, well ruined, soft and easiely scratched off with my fingernail, but wouldn’t come off with a toothbrush.

I’m goning out and will pick up some PineSol, but other than that I’m at a loss. WHY strip a Tower 55? The only one I could find by the time I actually decieded to buy one was in the blue and yellow ATSF scheme. ATSF was already merged when the ES44 came out, and I really want this in BNSF H3, not to mention a fun painting project.

Hi Dan, I just stripped 3 Athearn 2-8-2 Mikados with liquid Chameleon stripper. The stripper will not harm plastic but, did take 3 twenty minute soaks with scubbing in between. Got mine at M.B. Klein.

Chameleon is the only stripper I use for my models. Haven’t found one yet that won’t strip. [tup]
